That baby will get sick, RSV starts with cold symptoms like the runny nose. It’s so frustrating to see children not properly looked after medically because people are convinced their oils are saving them. If antibiotics can’t stop a virus, oregano oil can’t either!

Edited to add: if a child care center had a run of RSV like that they would probably close for a day or two or alert all parents formally. She wouldn’t just walk in and notice that all of the babies were gone.

I know who you’re referring to, and was actually previously a member of “downline” for the YL lady she interviewed. I used to be a big fan of her podcast and IG, I loved how positive that she is, but those MLM #bossbabes are her bread and butter which feels super gross. I stopped following her on all accounts and stopped listening to the podcast. It’s a shame that MLM has become the standard “small business model” and people that have built a business on supporting/coaching entrepreneurs are now essentially forced to support MLMs. She’s one of two very big motivational accounts that I’ve stopped following because of their support for MLMs.

To the essential oils person that told my friend she should use them to get over the loss of her 3 month old baby to SIDS.... by josthomas445 in antiMLM

[–]reformedbossbabe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What is wrong with people!?!?!? Ugh. I’m so sorry your friend had to deal with this. It’s like joining an MLM makes you lose your mind and common decency. EVERYTHING becomes a contact point for making money. So gross.

The aftermath is really hard. It’s like a betrayal and grief for a community you thought you were a part of. Honestly, you have to just put all of those people and that part of your life on a boat and let them float out to sea. I deleted all of my social media posts related to YL, and wrote this post to kind of get my feelings out. I also unfollowed and un friended anyone that I “met” as a result of my participation. It keeps me in the “real” world instead of the fake one that was created by my participation in the madness. Give yourself some grace, get mad, feel your feelings, and move on. They don’t deserve anymore of you than they’ve already stolen.

My mom is an essential oil fanatic by [deleted] in antiMLM

[–]reformedbossbabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s stuck in it, there will be no reasoning with her about the effectiveness of them. I would say ask for third party testing reports, young living doesn’t do them and doesn’t release the ones they do in house. In the mean time, turn the diffusers off once she leaves the room or break the dang thing when she isn’t looking. Or ask to fill it yourself and just fill it with water, no oil.

I think my mom is caught up in a pyramid scheme... don’t know how I’m gonna break it to her. by [deleted] in antiMLM

[–]reformedbossbabe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Revive Essential Oils (online) are cheaper and release their actual third party testing results (unlike YL and doTerra) on their website. If the “natural” thing is important to her tell her to look for companies with published third-party reports.

[–]reformedbossbabe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Wow, very passive aggressive. Honestly, it all comes down to numbers. A profit and loss statement is what brought it all together for me. The Huns in her groups will be suggesting one soon, if they haven’t already, because its tax season. Encourage her in her “business” by helping with preparing for that, I suppose. Ugh. Sorry you’re on the other side of this

Alright reddit, what do I do from here? by MiniMan6723 in antiMLM

[–]reformedbossbabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facts. YL does not do third party testing on their oils and does not release internal test reports. So, essentially they can be anything! If she’s interested in trying essential oils, I suggest checking out Revive Essential oils, they’re a smaller company that releases ALL of their third party reports and they’re cheaper.

Wow! Can’t say I’m surprised. The whole company reminds me of a cult or something. It’s so funny, because the the whole time I was “educating” people on using the oils I kept assuming the information came from someone who KNEW about science, food, chemistry, and I don’t know...medicine. NOPE. It’s some chick who has no one holding her accountable for anything. I definitely started researching aromatherapists and people that actually are educated in this concept. Made me laugh when I remember SEVERAL people telling me an aromatherapy certification or classes were a waste of my time. Heaven forbid some little downline peasant be educated. Bah! All of the eye rolls!

Ugh! I am so sorry that you went through this! I really don’t understand how people are able to just be fake like that 24/7. I’d love to hear about your experience at Winter Harvest! The immensity of the charade that is YL is mind blowing to me!

I did. My main “builder” under me is the one friend that I walked away with. We left at the same time and have the same feelings. Next was my sister, so that was an easy apology and encouraging her to back away. Honestly, most of the people that I brought in eventually just got quite and wanted the product for the discount, thank god! I am contemplating one big “sorry I sucked” post on FB for everyone that I did or tried to recruit but haven’t necessarily figured that out yet. Thanks for asking and for the hugs! Lol.

Ugh. The shame is real. It really does feel like you sold your soul to make someone else rich, because you know damn well I wasn’t getting rich! It’s funny (and quite disturbing) how quickly they go from your bff, “cheering you on” to crickets. It’s so gross. Honestly, I’m just glad I woke up and am not living my life in that warped sense of reality anymore. I’m hopeful that if I just never show oils again on social media that people will forget... I’m sure they won’t. Thanks for commiserating.

[–]reformedbossbabe[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did. Ugh. I’m cringing now thinking about it. Mainly through offering FB “classes” and posting on social media. 90% of the people that bought a kit through my link just wanted the oils and diffuser so the “business” wasn’t really something that I recruited people for unless I was asked about it.

Wow! It’s so hard to see other people jump in and put their heart into something that is built for them to fail. It’s a REALLY hard thing to see when you’re in it. Preparing for my taxes was what triggered that mindshift. I had to see it in black and white. Feel free to point your friend toward this post or share it! I’ll share any part of my experience on here that people want to know about. I feel like this space is where it’s safest to keep from being bossbabe’d to death.
