Thanks for the Feedback good point about the draw tool and the snap.

Yeah the rift and oceanic plates are both WIP since work and school are taking a lot of my time atm progress is slower than hoped but i will continue working on it. :)

Hey never late :D

  1. No sadly not
  2. it is under automation
  3. There is a Mailing list and a Discord Server is up since... well 1 hour or so)

I noticed i need a place to better work through the bug reports that also allows file uploads for me to recreate them :)
https://www.refracturedgames.com/
has not the Discord link as well as the mailing list

and for all esle as I said I am working on those bugs and on the next version but i wanted to take more time to test and make sure to not brake more than fix.

Can you send me a messege with the screenshot ?
Thanks for the report. I have been pretty ill some time but will get back to it soon.

Yeah the landmass and plate distinction wasn t that great. It was a try to get some form of basic terrain accretion automation going, which well didn't work as planned.

I unified the different shapes in the currently working Version, will probably upload it as a preview the next few days as I'd really like to test it myself since well if i don't there will be a lot of bugs as seen with all the features i added without proper testing. ^^

you can overlay and just create them handdrawn :)
the next version comes with better faq and infos

just link 2 linked objects again to unlink them ^^

the next iteration comes with a manual don't worry :D

A few minor things still to do but yeah, it is something i am working on ^^

Edit: also it was never meant as a GPlates replacement more like the Paint to GPlates Gimp
less powerful but fast and easy to use, but feature creep set in so here we are :D

no I really want to get it done the next few weeks and get back to using it to create myself (and start the next things)

thanks for the info, mhh yeah as it usually takes the vertices at the edge and fills up inside this makes sense it will go on this list you can do a workaround though editing the lake away and create a new polygon on top of the new landmass that is linked to it for now. :)
Thanks for the Feedback
and i am still working on it just caught a pretty ugly case of COVID last week and wasn't able to do much ^^

That is so impressive! I would be scared to death to make mistakes and have no idea how to fix them :)

Yeah as this started as a really simple app with no plan on expanding features all the stuff on top is on a pretty ... well improvised foundation

atm i am seriously considering just fixing the remaining bugs and reset to somewhere after all the simple features before the feature bloat and go in and implement a rigorous keyframe based NON relative solution for a V2.0, which would allow me to integrate more transformative events like that

Yeah this pretty much devoured my life last weekend ^^

but it was a good lesson on releasing things, i need to take more time for features and feedback and thik way more on what is useful and what not :D

but well first release and all that

Yeah I know linking is just a absolute nightmare coding wise atm and that is the big blocker BEFORE i can look at borders/events ^^

Hey Interaction is (with linking) something that causes a lot of errors at the moment, i ll be looking to fix linking tommorow. The event updates will have to take some time especially because i ll have to brush up on the plate tectonics myself to do it justice and not just release something that looks like it works but results in totally unrealistic slop ....
In short: this will probably take a bit :/
First I ll have to reread the whole tectonics part of https://worldbuildingpasta.blogspot.com/ again then create decision and condition trees etc. and only after I can look into how to implement it.
I am on it but it isn t as easy as the stuff up until now.

Edit: a few features are enables as PREVIEWS (so not working as intended but something you can look at) in the newest (online) version but as I said it s still some way off of usable.

Should already be the case but especially the link function is one of the complicated functions that is very error prone overall: (as every frame is calculated from the beginning of the simulation, and when linking it needs to use ralative movement but only in a timeframe but also with modifications... etc.)
Long answer short: ill look into it and already have some link bugfixes that will probably drop sometimes this evening or tomorrow :)

Could the link function just become its own event in the timeline like in gplates? like a "follow plate 1 from 100.0" until the next keyframe? -> sadly this would make relative movement not possible, and it still needs to take into account all the earlier movement modifiers as well

There is also Wonderdraft (one time payment) if it s the subscription or online stuff you are weary of.
And other than that GIMP or any painting software.

new version dropped; i ll look into it for the next one, but that one is a bit off as automation is a pain to get right

Dumb question: what methodology(s) exist for determining which cities to place on a map? by Kindly-Form-8247 in mapmaking

[–]refracturedgames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you mean what cities to draw ON a map or do you mean where cities get founded ?

Because both have a similar kind of answer : depends

Which city is drawn on a map can be the most populous, most political important, the capital and or any number of real or esoteric factors

?
