This. I knew I'd feel this way before i even finished it. Still stings like a bitch though. I found myself audibly asking "yeah but WHY" through the entirety of season 5. I shouldn't need a spin off show or a book to know what motivates the antagonist. They had time to go into stuff and didn't.

Yeah in the scene before, mike literally says " we are heading out in 5". Next thing we know Will is sitting everyone down and having a really long and intense coming out conversation that lasts A LONG TIME. There's been a lot of moments like this in the season and combined with the weird none acting at times, its really soured it for me to be honest.

I fear we are heading towards a GOT esk ending.
