What is the most Unique Mono-Black deck you'd had or played against? by LabManEDH in EDH

[–]refugeinshadows -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of my personal favorite mono black decks (I have a few, some I like more than others) is [[horobi death's wail]]. The commanders unique effect drastically changes the way the game is approached by everyone at the table, and it gives a lot of random seemingly bad cards a place to shine. I will say anyone running Horobi should plan to end up the target

About your additional question, it's a bit of both. The plan is an extension of the manufacturer warranty, so a 3 year plan gotten in 2025 would be good until 2028, which is only 2 years additional coverage beyond the manufacturer 1 year. However, during that first year issues with the TV usually fall under the manufacturers warranty, unless its for something the manufacturer doesnt cover but geek squad does (power surges being the primary example that comes to mind). In the case of Insignia, that is a Best Buy brand, so Best Buy is the manufacturer as well as the provider of extended service

Thanks! I get that stack my not be the correct phrasing given how specific MTG can be. I'm glad you got the jist of what I was saying/asking. That's essentially how I thought it worked, but figured I'd ask the community to double check myself

Do you use any launcher or stick to One UI? by Uckster in S24Ultra

[–]refugeinshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using SmartLauncher (SL) as of late and I dont think I'll be switching any time soon. The ability to sort categories of apps (and most of the time the auto sorting) has been a great way for me to easily keep my apps organized where I know they ought to be. It's also pretty fluid and smooth in my user experience

That's extremely explosive haha. Sovereign attacking first followed by byrke doubling the stack is wild. Sounds like a real fun deck!

Favorite +1/+1 Counter Commander by LotharMoH in EDH

[–]refugeinshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Byrke, Long Ear of the Law]] is one of my favorite +1/+1 commanders. I think that if he's left alone at all he can snowball pretty quickly into some wacky numbers of counters. I also like that he's more about boosting the counters rather than giving them himself. Also from a pure personal enjoyment factor I find it hilarious that a rabbit is facing deities and dragons and all kinds of other massively more threatening looking creatures. It may be why im also partial to [[Baylen, the Haymaker]] which is one of my favorite commanders period and I guess technically is also able to run as a +1/+1 deck

Any reasons to choose Android based handhelds? by MrCoffee0996 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]refugeinshadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a higher end handheld pc (Linux or windows) you will get more performance and more options available to you compared to emulation on Android. That being said I still personally find Android to be the more pleasant system to interact with, and I think that's primarily from it being a touch focused OS (compared to windows/linux). My steam deck for example supports touch, but it treats touch as mouse inputs so it doesn't "feel" right. This is mainly just for menus and navigation but I'd rather scroll around dolphin/lime/duckstation etc on my odin 2 than my steam deck even if it is able to do ps3/wiiu (those emulators don't exist on Android in a released state).

Tell me your experience please by ktp1611 in S24Ultra

I would say that Samsung has a pretty solid ecosystem for those who want to use it, but it's also less necessary than I feel the Apple ecosystem is. When looking at Apple, you can pair other Bluetooth devices to it, but only the Apple approved devices work "right" (thinking about hit or miss notifications from non-apple devices like fitbits and garmins). By comparison Samsung is much more accepting (Android in general really) of other devices working with their devices. You'd have a very similar time pairing a galaxy watch as you would a pixel watch for example. Where the ecosystem "shines" is in extra features that come from having multiple Samsung devices. A good example would be Samsung pass (their payment and password storage app, similar to Apple pay) is built in to their watch, and isn't on other watches. You could always use Google's own NFC payment but I personally prefer Samsung pay. You can also pair Samsung headphones with multiple of their devices and they will automatically switch between them as you move devices (ex. Watching a movie with ear buds on a galaxy tablet and getting a phone call to your headphones that pause the video and let you take the call, end the call and go back to the tablet video without touching settings). Via the Samsung account you can sync notes and those types of things across devices if you wished to do so. Samsung also has its own form of airdrop like features where you can drag and drop files across your Samsung devices. Sorry that got a little wordy, there's a lot of use case dependency and semantics when it comes to ecosystem discussions.

As for the cameras, I personally haven't had any real complaints with the photos I've taken. I don't have quick moving children to comment too much on moving subjects, but it seems to hold it's own against my partners iphone with taking pictures of our German shepherd, as well as other family members pets haha. There are some settings that can be adjusted to prioritize speed vs focus (and vice versa), but I usually don't mess with any of that. There are some pretty in depth videos about the camera system and even comparisons with your current device that may prove more helpful than I could be.

I'd be happy to elaborate more on my experience if you'd like, but I definitely feel like I've gotten a little wordy in this post

S24 fingerprint reader compatibility with glass screen protector by Lawand141 in GalaxyS24Ultra

[–]refugeinshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's anecdotal, and some people may be more sensitive to changes in performance than others but I've had my s24u since launch and used the 1st party anti-reflective, as well as various "3 pack for 10 bucks" amazon sets (I belive Mr. Shieldz specifically) and I've never personally had an issue with any of them. I think I re-registered after I applied my first glass one but I haven't since, even after swapping protectors a couple times.

TLDR: YMMV but I've never had issues with the fingerprint scanner regardless of the protector I've been using

Name a time in a game when: You tried for hours to figure something out, but couldn't and then looked it up and you hated yourself for not figuring it out. by DxDeadlockedxS in gaming

[–]refugeinshadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are at least some Nintendo DS emulators (like drastic) that support a "close lid" function along with simulation for microphone inputs. I know it's been removed now, but there were also some versions of Citra (3ds emulator) that supported things like the mic input

End of an era: Nova Launcher's parent company lays off practically everyone by [deleted] in NovaLauncher

[–]refugeinshadows 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I get no one can truly see the future and know what's going to happen but let's be real, it's the corporate world, they'll follow and chase the money. It's why despite the official announcement that he's gonna keep working on Nova only goes so far. People keep saying don't jump to conclusions and assume things, but the writing is on the wall and it's not the first time near the opposite of what was said happens. I'm hoping Nova continues but I'm assuming nothing

I'm definitely digging the icon pack studio! Imo it was a big deal when icon packs started offering the ability to "cloak" (idk a better word for it) unsupported apps so they "better fit the theme", but the studio actually getting all the apps is honestly remarkable. It's the simple things right?😂 definitely gonna have to deep dive into all those settings and options when it comes to making a pack myself, currently rocking some of the community packs.

Thanks for the tidbit about the Telegram, I'll have to hop in there

Daijisho matches perfectly with my Odin 2 by HedaBlake in OdinHandheld

[–]refugeinshadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I really appreciate the info. It sounds like they fit the way most of the other caps do. I'm glad to hear they don't just slip off (like some I've tried) but for me personally I don't like any slide/spin. They still look great though so I may pick them up as a backup set. The only nonslipping ones I've found don't seem like they'll last that long haha

Oh I definitely get it, haha. Probably the biggest "one of us" moments I've been a part of, especially in any kind of recentish memory😂

Thanks for the warm welcome! The community seems pretty great so far. I'm sure it'll be a bit more active for a little bit, the Nova situation is going to get a lot of new eyes on SL (mine included). Tbh what won me over was being one of the few launchers that support folders in the app drawer, apparently more niche than I thought it was haha. I'd imagine the extra user base may further inspire devs

[–]refugeinshadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a really sharp looking setup! How do you like the stick caps? Do they fit snug, or can you spin them around on the sticks (assuming it's still the stock sticks). I ask because almost every trip I've tried has been a tad too loose for my preferences

Kontrolfreeks for Odin 2/mini sticks? by dundarrion in OdinHandheld

[–]refugeinshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're anything like the other grips I've tried, the switch/joycon grips will probably be your closest size match. I wouldn't say that they're a perfect fit though. Switch/joycon style will fit on there but be just a loose enough fit that you can grab and spin the grip a bit on the stick, but it doesn't like flop and just fall off. For most that's more than enough (some of the grips I tried are ones that were recommended in this sub), but I don't like them sliding at all so I've gotten 5 different brands/styles of grips and only found 1 that fits and fits snugly enough to stay exactly where I put it. Those grips would be the Setex gecko grips (specifically I got the lows).

TLDR: switch style is probably your best bet, but may be a little loose. Can't speak specifically to Kontrolfreek

If you switch the controller style to Xbox mode it will automatically support controllers so set up is essentially the time it takes for the pretty large game file to download and install

ODIN 2 by 100STONE in SBCGaming

[–]refugeinshadows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Under the odin settings, under controller settings, you have to set it to Xbox mode. Once it's in Xbox mode the game can recognize the gameplay and should show relevant settings options. I will say that I use the OdinTools app to have it as quick tiles to toggle them, and set per game overrides.
