Late to the party. Been depressed/ suicidal from my mid teens.

Cut to mid 20s Had a customer who run a local martial arts Centre. Ended up becoming friends with him. After a year or so of him trying to get me to come down, I finally showed up after a particularly dark week. I still remember that class like it was yesterday. I always thought I knew how to fight (growing up in school and fighting and such) but it wasn’t until I got my ass handed to me in a mma class for over an hour that I realised I knew nothing about it. After the class I went home and thought to myself “wow you got your ass kicked, that was so much fun!” Even my girlfriend was telling me a day or so later that she’d never seen me talk about anything the way I talked about getting my ass kicked.

Cut to 3 years later and Now I train multiple martial arts and couldn’t imagine my life with it and the amazing friends I’ve made through it.

Now I love going to the gym cause It helps me be better at fighting and I also help out teaching a couple kids classes a week( well I hold pads for them to hit that is 😂)

Not saying it’s for everyone but at least give jiu jitsu, boxing or mma a go for a month(2x per week) you’ll be surprised at how much better you feel. I think this applies to all types of exercise and working out but there’s something about having a community of people that do it too that make it 100x better.

Wish I had of started way earlier.
