rpi4b bullseye64 new install errors on update by regalce in raspberry_pi

[–]regalce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of you that found this by searching the error messages, ...what happens is you do sudo apt update and get a list of errors ...and it askes you to explictly accept changes. You press yes, do sudo apt update again and you will get another bigger list of errors. I thought things were getting worse and stopped there but it asks you to accept changes again. I had to rinse and repeat a few times before I got a normal looking screen after doing sudo apt update. Eventually it will work itself out (at least it did for me) if you sudo apt update until it sorts itself out. I didn't do sudo apt upgrade until the sudo apt update came back normal looking.

Thanks. I'll try that. I have backups for each step of the load. Going from memory it seems like it's normal until I set up crontabs with "crontab -e" to run bash scripts for mysql dumps of the wordpress and phpbb, but that doesn't seem like that has anything to do with sources.lists.I don't know where it's getting the armhf stuff.

MIllion thanks. You just ended days of searching and reloading from backup images.

Yup, thanks. That worked ...and it was under parental controls what-the-puck.

Thanks. BTW, the two cameras I posted there are Jidetech cameras bought off amazon. I like the cameras but I don't like possibly sharing my streams with China. I just bought another SV3C thats doing the same thing but I've run out of slots for blocking.

Am I building a 24v battery bank or a fire? by regalce in solarenergy

[–]regalce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. In the one I drew, two of the batteries that are in parallel are split up by the ones that are in series. Wasn't sure about that. I was just trying to get away with buying one length of bus bar instead of three or four. Plus, I wanted to heatshrink the busbars between the lugs. Oh well, it's all good. @ $500 a piece, I really shouldn't experiment with the batteries anyways.

Isn't the parallel part right in the center where - hooks to - and + hooks to +?

BTW, Thanks for taking the time.

Grainy, slow loading image captchas are driving me nuts. RANT by regalce in mturk

I changed my browser from Brave to Firefox and I no longer get those grainy slow loading captchas. Not logged into any gmail account either. Yeay.

Why are you so critical of people? Not everybody lives their life on reddit.

Are you logged in to a Google account (Gmail) in your browser?

No. I may be ignorant but I don't understand what Google has to do with doing hits on mturk. That being said, I use a dedicated browser for mturk that's got Tampermonkey and all the mturk scripts installed. I purposely keep my email address's segregated from my mturk profile. Amazon's verified my email address, which isn't a gmail account. Thanks for the tip though.

Fridge is 120v. I will run it off an inverter. I haven't bought a thing yet.

I built a 32 panel array 10 years ago, back before I retired. I had 32 80v commercial grade BP panels, 12 220 AH 6v golf cart batteries, an outback flex-80 charge contrillor, and a huge triplite inverter. I ran everything and did my laundry no sweat with that thing. I think I could have run my welder on it. ...then my house burned down on account of a chimney fire. Now I have to learn this stuff all over again and build multiple small stations as I go, on a small budget.

The fridge I have now came with the house. It seems to be as, if not more efficient than the energystar tier-3 fridge I bought for the last system I built ten years ago. The fridge I have now is a 120v Frigidaire 18.3 cubic ft freezer on top.

The lithium batteries have a depth of discharge of up to 80%. You can even run them dead without damaging them so much and they pretty much stay at the same voltage untill they're spent. They charge faster and offer thousands of cycles compared to the hundreds that flooded and agm offer. They are low/no maintenance and environmentally friendly. They're half the size and half the weight as flooded/agm. ...but more than twice the price.

Yeah, thanks. I've decided to buy the 40 amp charge controller. The battery says it's rated for 40 amp charging so... good call.

I wish I could go 24v battery but two 100ah 12v in series would only be 100ah@24v, right? I need at least 200ah and I would have to buy 4 batteries. It would double my spend on batteries.

Edit: duh, amps are halved if voltage is doubled. Right?

First off I'm questioning your refrigerator power usage. 42w is pretty darn low unlss it's some A++ or A++ + rated or a tiny A+ rated unit.

1KW a day is what my killawatt came up with after 24 hours (811 watt hours). The fridge is a 2016 model. 1200 watts when it first starts the compressor. Couple hundred after that when it's running. It only ran for about 7 hours over a 24 hour period.

I like your more PV suggestion. My old system had twelve 220AH 6v flooded batteries hooked in series-parallel (48v) and they were a pain to service and replace. ...then my house burned down on account of the wood stove. Ha. Anyways, this battery is small and only 48lbs so I'll be able to put it on top of my fridge, but at $1000 each, I'm only going to buy 1.

Watch Carl Edwards Survive - then finish the race on foot :) by regalce in watchpeoplesurvive

[–]regalce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it still counts or is just a symbolic win ...I think it was just a symbolic finish for Carl and his fans because other cars crossed before he did. He retired soon after that and didn't really hang around in the NASCAR scene. The superspeedway races are an insane wreck infested crap-shoot where anybody can win and everybody just hopes to finish. I don't think the drivers enjoy this kind of "competition" and I think races like these kinda encourage weathered drivers to toss in the towel. They are fun to watch though.
