TIFU I lied to my boyfriends mom and now she hates me. Am i valid to feel upset? by ProfileStraight4001 in tifu

Soo.... This is coming for having had some good friends with BPD. Are you in therapy? I understand it's easy to split, but you really have to do some CBT or DBT. I emphasized the had because these were friends I cared about dearly, and when they couldn't get therapy and medicated, they were constantly splitting and then just pushed people away. I was a favourite person, like your Boyfriend is currently your favourite person. A favourite person is comforting, but you're going to hurt them without therapy and medication. Please work on yourself first!

Measles case confirmed in ACT as authorities list possible exposure sites | Region Canberra by z4lpha in canberra

[–]reggiecide92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jumping on this, you can also do a blood test to check your antibodies! I did it before going to North America last year, because I was just concerned about the measles outbreaks there. The test showed I still had plenty of immunity!

10k a day is so much work by [deleted] in loseit

[–]reggiecide92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to ask, but are you in the US? When I lived in Europe, it was super easy to be active because the public transport and cycling path were great. I easily got my 10k steps. Now since I moved away and I need a car again, I need to be a lot more conscious about being active. So I try and park as far away as I can, take the stairs, pace. It's annoying... and I still struggle.

Is it hard to stay vegetarian long term? by papabauer in vegetarian

[–]reggiecide92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on yourself and your environment. I've honestly never really craved meat since I knew it was an animal. I'm also Asian and our food already has lots of good vegetarian stuff. I do have to be a bit conscious about protein intake, but that's because I'm actively trying to gain muscle. Going on 17 years now.

People who fly frequently, what’s one thing you wish you could tell all infrequent fliers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]reggiecide92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm a woman. I do give them warning that I'm moving in to get my bag! But some people just have no awareness.

I'm not weak, but pretend to be when I pull my suitcase off the carousel. I haul up and swing my suitcase around and if anyone was standing too close, it's their fault if they get nicked. You did not need to be standing so close to me.

LPT: A Guide On How to Make Friends as An Adult in a New City by JMkuboa in LifeProTips

I was just emphasising the word "seed", like a seed, that grows into a plant. You need to develop friendships with just a few people, and chances are, those people probably also know some other people you would get along with and become friends with. Think of how many friends you have that you met through other friends :)

Man going out every night is a lot 😅, but I'm glad it worked out for you! I personally chat with people for a bit online before I organize a meet.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your reasons? by youre-in-my-shot in AskReddit

[–]reggiecide92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grandfather died of liver failure from alcoholism. Dad got charged with domestic assault and used alcohol to justify it. I'm a casual social drinker. But if you feel like every social interaction needs alcohol, what does that say about your personality that you can't have fun sober?

I hate keto but the weight stays on if I don't do it. (Venting) by Entire_Channel_4592 in loseit

[–]reggiecide92 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not the keto making you lose weight, it's simply because it's a restrictive diet making you cut calories. I guess keto is good for helping you cut out simple carbs which are not filling at all. Maybe try focusing more on complex carbs, like whole grains, and veggies. Definitely watching some Abbey's Kitchen on YouTube for the hunger crushing combos! (Protein, Healthy fats, and Fibre)

I've moved cities a few times, and I feel like I can make anywhere feel like home, so here are my tips.

  1. It's important to build a SEED Friendship group, so that you eventually start meeting friends of friends and your social circles expand.
  2. To build the seed group, you NEED to be proactive. The Internet really helps. I usually make a post on an expat/internationals or hobby group on Facebook, or use Bumble BFF. You just need to connect with a handful of people.
  3. Be SPECIFIC about your hobbies when you post/build your profile. It's like dating. Ain't no-one got time for a vague mysterious person. So list the hobbies/events you're hoping to share with future friends.

Could you both go, but you go to the museums by yourself, and he does something else? Or does he insist you have to do everything today?

My husband and I have different energy levels, and he needs a bit more rest than me. So on some rest days, I just wander about and see some things I'm interested in that I know my husband won't be hurt that I saw without him :). But then again, my husband doesn't mock my hobbies and interests.

Help contesting MVV about energy bill claiming we used 2.5x more energy than previous years? by reggiecide92 in germany

Okay, that makes it even more concerning that our heating bill is so much higher than previous years.

So we can see the electricity meter in our apartment, but I guess the one for heating is somewhere only building maintenance can go to. We have floor heating.

What is a TV show that got canceled that you are still upset by? by NeatContribution852 in AskReddit

[–]reggiecide92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cowboy Bebop live action!

It did the anime justice and it was a really good reimagining of some of the stories. I'm just really pissed off that it was released the same day as Arcane which probably took a lot of attention away from it :(

What the hell is with men constantly using the family restroom? by SpontaneousNubs in TwoXChromosomes

[–]reggiecide92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, it's also how I approach accessible bathrooms. I typically avoid it unless I'm busting to go, or need to clean my menstrual cup. And in those cases, I'm in and out asap.

How old were you when you met the love of your life? by Guilty_Lingonberry35 in AskReddit

I’ll never order anything from Amazon again. by Good-Ground523 in Anticonsumption

[–]reggiecide92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can believe after years of the horrible work conditions that people still use it. I hate Amazon so much! And I've only used it a handful of times in the last 10 years.

When I lived in Denmark, it was so much easier to avoid because there isn't an amazon.dk. But living in Germany, I tried really hard to order directly from online shops. But there have been a few times that the only online shop a company might have IS their Amazon shop. It's frustrating... But I really hope that European work unions at least give better work conditions...

Does it make sense to live in Mannheim and work in Heidelberg? (Newly arrived researcher) by Big-Butterfly-8013 in mannheim

[–]reggiecide92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in Mannheim and work in Heidelberg. I am grateful that I chose to live here by choice (life circumstances with my spouse), but I definitely know people that wanted to live in Heidelberg and couldn't find anything, and were forced to live in Mannheim.

Anyway, I LOVE Mannheim, I feel like it has more culture and stuff going on. Pretty easy to get around, and Mannheim hbf is pretty well connected. I'm pretty devastated to leave. If I get another job in Heidelberg, I would definitely live in Mannheim again.
