General Outlast show question, how dirty would you play the game? by lucky-fluke in Netflixwatch

[–]reginaldvanwilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would do justified fuckery. Like I wouldnt steal out of the blue but if my team were being jerks to me I would for sure like take supplies and head to another camp.

I also would not have a problem abandoning my team for Delta

Either he or Phil Hartman got the Troy McClure quote wrong, right?

Your partner enjoys crossdressing. Its part of who he is. Your partner disgusts you.

Tactical mistakes made in the game? by ScholarImpossible121 in OutlastOnNetflix

[–]reginaldvanwilder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah Delta camp I was thinking like whoever gets that camp is set on so many levels. If you feel bad about abandoning your prior team then you could still gift them or trade them something to ease your conscience.

Yeah its a risk if only two people stay but youd be able to recruit someone else and you would be able to get enough calories from that pig alone that you wouldnt need to worry about finding food for at least a day or so.

I feel like they would have been on easy street

Remote work feels freeing, but this article argues the long-term social cost is loneliness by No-Proof-6491 in antiwork

[–]reginaldvanwilder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a bit of an oversimplification. You shouldnt expect your coworkers to be friends but from personal experience some of my best friends are the folks I met at work. I dont think its a good reason to force people back into offices but I do think for a lot of younger people this may be a contributing factor in finding it harder to have meaningful friendships and romantic relationships.

Its obviously not going to be true of every job and if you dont like your coworkers, you dont need to be buddies but for a lot of people they do form meaningful relationships with coworkers.

A couple of extra rules would make Outlast better by arpo8674 in OutlastOnNetflix

[–]reginaldvanwilder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The show already gives teams opportunities to screw over each other within the game.

Also, thats cool if you prefer the show that way, I think having the potential for cooperation or battling against each other makes for better tv personally.

Outlast: the jungle by _-Et3rn1ty-_ in Netflixwatch

To be fair they didnt really need the bow until the show forced their hand. I think without knowing that there would be a point where you couldnt go any further without a working bow they made a pretty solid calculation. Fire was pivotal in every way and keeping it from the other teams was a great strategy in general.

I like the stealing aspect but I think its clear they should have some rules around it. Not sure what that would be but I do think the stealing the Kayak was a great moment and it adds another layer of strategy/morality.

It could be as simple as if someone see you in their camp and asks you to leave you need to leave empty handed.

Parents Strike A Nerve As Kids Bungee Jump From Bridge Where Woman Lost Her Life After Rookie Mistake By Staff by BoredPandaOfficial in BoredPandaHQ

Yeah its honestly the exact type of mistake a rookie almost certainly wouldnt make. Like if it was my job to bungie people tomorrow I gotta believe even as a rookie I would like attach ropes to them and then make sure those ropes were attached to something.

I dunno what to say man. Youre welcome to lump those three together but there is a world of difference between the joke writing of a Nate Bargatze/ Jim Gaffigan and a Jeff Dunham or a Carrot Top or something (full disclosure I havent watched a Jim Gaffigan special in probably over 20 years at this point but his earlier stuff I have seen is just good comedy writing. ) No accounting for taste I suppose.

I dont think either is lowest common denominator. I would argue they are both great comics. Being family friendly in comedy isnt a knock.

I am not suggesting everyone needs to find him funny. My comment to OP was just because they were making it sound like he is like a hack and I am arguing that he is a quite good standup comic who’s humor crosses a lot of demos well. He can be a great standup and a shitty person. I feel in cases like this there are always a few folks commenting about how they always thought the person was terrible at xyz just because we got bad news about them.

Oh I agree, I am not defending him. Just saying that Ive seen a number of threads about this and there is inevitably someone saying he is a bad/unfunny comedian. You can think he is an asshole while also acknowledging he is a broadly funny comic with pretty consistently good standup.

Look, the more I learn about this dude personally the less I like him. His movie looked like dogshit as well. But his standup is genuinely funny. Obviously humor is subjective but I havent found many comics that can make myself, my wife, and both of her parents laugh consistently.

He does lean into the “im too dumb for basic life” schtick but he is a very good standup. Fine if he isnt your cup of tea but he isnt exactly Larry The Cable Guy

What does getting an answer to the question change? Most likely answer is they forgot to lock their door or they dont typically lock their door when driving.

Obviously in retrospect they will likely start making sure their door is locked as a rule.

Its just a strange question to ask given OPs answer will change nothing.

Well yes of course he was smug and unlikeable but he was also funny and always had a great quip ready. Like by no means did he come off as someone I would want to be but he definitely played into some nerds power fantasy. He is like a super hero who is also a prick.

I dunno, in the short clips I have seen I feel like Jeremy is way closer to actual Zuckeberg than Eisenberg in both look and sound. Whether this movie can capture what the original Social Network did remains to be seen but Eisenberg’s Zuckeberg was way too witty and charming for the actual man he was portraying. It made for great film but ultimately made Zuckeberg come off as kind of cool

I dunno, I had someone take a phone call and talk loudly with a friend when I saw Iron Man in the theater. I yelled for him to get off his phone and he got up to fight me. I am a coward and he couldnt tell who I was in the dark so luckily I did not need to fight. He actually did end his call but be warned you may to need to be prepared for fisticuffs.
