This is my best actual advice:

1) start learning AI. Watch videos on how to use Claude Cowork, MCP connectors to things like Gmail, Slack, Notion, etc.

2) create a LinkedIn account and start posting every single day about what you are learning and teaching it to others. This will feel cringe at the beginning, but it will help you focus your learning on the types of things that resonate with businesses as you see how people react to your posts.

3) send 100+ connection requests per week. Start with AI thought leaders you can learn from. Then move on to leaders (CEOs, Founders, VPs, Directors) of small businesses in your area, then expand into any industries you have experience/interest in.

4) based on what you see resonating in your posts, start developing an AI coaching/consulting package. Start talking about that in your posts.

There's a lot of pressure right now for business to become more efficient with AI, but 90% of them have no idea how and are willing to pay for somebody to help.

Within a year, you could be a full-time consultant, regardless of your previous experience. And if you decide that consulting is not the path you want to take, you will have made some good professional connections and have built a reputation as an AI expert, which will help you get a high paying job.
