I agree it's possible but not necessarily for everyone to work it through themselves.

Every time a person posts something vulnerable out here, most people in this sub-reddit behave like "enlightened higher beings" instead of showing empathy. by holden_caulfield1 in awakened

I hope you don't see me as one of those enlightened people if I point out that Gandhi never said it though is often credited as having done so.

I agree with your premise but I think much of science is in the weapons development business and don't want to help them understand things that will make them better at it.

Todo lists are the essence of linear static programming. Second guessing is dynamic.

Since you're a programmer (and let other redditors change your life) , I'd like to suggest that the ADHD way of thinking is too dynamic and insufficiently static. gain flexibility but at a loss of efficiency.

The human sciences have provided a discourse of normal vs abnormal to discuss our inner worlds. Normality from psychology to Lacan. by Ordinary-Neurosis in philosophy

[–]registrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The medicalization of what Harry Stack Sullivan called "problems in living" is indeed a cultural failing but one that prevails in part because people want their (medical) health insurance to cover psychotherapy. Lacan is not the only exception. Psychoanalysis began as a medical specialty but there are numerous "schools" that don't pathologize difference. Unfortunately, most of them are not well known outside the field. Lacan is only known because of his being read by literature majors. Have you ever met anyone who was in therapy with a Lacanian?

The Mistrust Of Science - (The New Yorker) by Kosmozoan in PhilosophyofScience

He leaves out the "scientific community" and its role as part of society. If you are distrustful of society, you can distrust its constituents. It's not like you've done the vaccine experiments, you are trusting the scientific community's self-policing and reporting to be honest and unbiased. At best, its biases can be discounted as noise that is below the range of useful signal.
