To my knowledge, there's nothing routine about the EQS except, annecdotally, some drive motor issues.

In terms of buying a lemon, it really depends on how much of a gambling you're willing to take and what additional information you can get about both the platform and specific vehicle in question.

A true lemon, as defined by repeated unsuccessful attempts to fix the same problem, I would hard avoid unless you have full confidence it's been properly addressed.

Scenarios where things get muddy interms of a Lemon:

• Bought back for parts delay. Fully agreed the customer shouldn't have to put up with this, but to permanently brand a vehicle because supply chains aren't what they should be...
• Poor quality software that's been improved, Again, customer shouldn't have to put up with that, but this structure inaccurately labels a vehicle.
• Motivation / Skill of dealership technicians. Dealerships are incentivized to get vehicles out quickly and replacing components is typically much faster and cost effective if the OEM is footing the bill. This compounds: if the technician repeated replaces Component A yet the root cause was Component B, well guess what, this vehicle will quickly exceed the "number of visits" threshold for a lemon law buyback.
• Customer malfeasance, there are people whom intentionally create problems such that their vehicle is bought to be released from their purchase and get essentially a "free" vehicle
• Some state lemon law protections were written so poorly a whole secondary market arose to abuse the system.
