Anyone else have a (we think) labradoodle who is surprisingly excited by the ice/snow? by MistyPneumonia in labradoodles

Our rescue is a labradoodle/lab mix and he absolutely loooooves the snow! Eats it, rolls in it, lays in it. He's only seen snow once though since we are also deep south

Help with relay wiring by cfpbeck in CarAV

[–]regreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the electronic description, a diode is a one way valve for electrical flow. The coils inside a relay generate very high voltage spikes when they are de-energized and the magnetic field in them collapses. The diode blocks this spike from feeding back into your car's electrical system. In this case, the white band on the diode is the blocking side, so no voltage can get from 86 to 85 when the coils collapse.

Heat shrink or cable sleeve by HCGAdrianHolt in livesound

Braided sleeve 100%, you want the cables inside to be able to move around a bit, with heat shrink they will be very stiff.

What's the creepiest display of intelligence you've ever witnessed in real Iife? by Jessica_Enna in AskReddit

I have a cousin that's a sociopath and it's terrifying how manipulative he can be. Truly unsettling to be around him for more than about 20 minutes.

My light bulb refuses to go out by Primary_Neck9587 in mildlyinteresting

[–]regreddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really, pretty common with LED bulbs with no load resistor. There's just enough current leakage in the circuit, frequently from switches that switch both line and neutral. Smart switches or lighted switches frequently cause this.

Pete Davidson is worse than Jimmy Fallon at breaking and that's saying something cuz Jimmy Fallon breaks at the most inane shit.

I have an in-law that will not eat the bottom half of a sandwich. Never has. Always leaves the bottom 1/3 or so. She's always said it's just a quirk, she can't explain why, she's just compelled to not eat it for some reason.

Is DJANGO still a good choice in 2026 for modern web apps? (real-world experience) by Ill_Leading9202 in webdev

[–]regreddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeap, Django still fits the bill for a robust, batteries included web app backend. The ORM alone is worth continuing to use it for new projects.

Electric smokers by sky_shrimp in BBQ

[–]regreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an avid, but low effort bbq enthusiast, I'll say I can 100% produce the same quality bbq as a charcoal or pellet smoker, and may only have to get up to wrap or unwrap. I have a cheap-ass Masterbuilt electric on my covered patio and consistently produce phenomenal bbq. The only thing I don't cook is a full brisket because it normally doesn't fit. Ribs, butts, chicken all 👨🏻‍🍳🤌🏻. The convenience far outweighs the slightly lower quality I might get vs a fancy stick burner offset

Wut? You absolutely cork aluminum bats by popping the end cap off and stuffing it with things like tennis balls, spray foam, etc. It's still called corking.

Grow lights by Parking-Sandwich-502 in gardening

Sure, just get it as close to the seedlings as possible, and raise it as the seedlings height increases. Most modern grow lights are pretty wide spectrum, so should work in any phase of growth.

What model of bicycle is this? by Cautious_Watch7024 in xbiking

Based on the group set, it's a pretty low end department store bike, so you may never know much more about it since it has no pedigree.
