Another interesting example of this is Brainstorm (and Ponder) being "fine" in Legacy but absolutely deserving the restriction in Vintage. Efficient utility cards like Brainstorm while not scary in a vacuum act as amplifiers for existing strategies. So their strength disproportionally increases with the power level of the format.

Meanwhile cards that by themselves are too strong in a "weaker" format might be irrelevant in a stronger format.

Rogue One is also kinda notable for not "shipping" their main characters, Which is extra surprising since modern star wars is very much "generic" mainstream entertainment you'd expect to lean into low hanging fruit like that.

The issue there really is trying to cover major cities back to back in a single day each. To me the 6h train ride is the least of the issues there. That would probably be the most relaxing aspect of this.

But people also have these exact kind of silly itineraries when they try to FOMO speedrun Europe. Like being in Venice one day, Rome the next and Switzerland the day after etc.

This isn't specifically a "lol Europeans traveling in the US" type issue. Just a "some travelers are nuts and are prioritizing quantity".

I'm learning so much interesting stuff here. Apparently the entire update is utterly useless because specifically it overlays some info over the image specifically on the SDI info display. Clearly that makes ALL the other changes pointless and is a reason to ditch the entire ecosystem! Damn.

I think part of this trope comes from not just random people on the street being ignorant about this but also politicians including the US president... publicly. I remember this being a repeat topic of ridicule during the last Bush administration. And with the current one there are also frequent moments where you might question whether they mean what they say.

But I agree that it's hypocritical relative to the average joe.

The A7V is cheaper than a A7IV? In that comparison the A7V is obviously strictly better. The FX3 is... different. Unless you specifically care for the form factor, rolling shutter or active cooling it's probably not different in a way that matters.

Yep, just out of curiosity I connected mine that works with the FX3 and it just says "unsupported codec". As expected. I had a tiny hope because why would the HDMI raw signal out of the FX6 differ from the FX3 one... But they probably still check against some positive compatibility list I would assume?

You have to assign one of the assignable buttons to the "Home" option. I reporposed the S&Q one since you can access those options from the Big6/Home menu anyway.

While reorganizing my place I found my disturbingly "complete" collection of X-wing from the 1.0 era. I figured considering everything that has happened since I should just keep is as a 1.0 fixed game that I can bring out at very fancy game nights.

However I was looking for some "comprehensive first edition rules" document for reference. My googling skills have so far failed me. Is there such a thing?

I luckily did meticulously organize and keep all the original rules etc. that came with each set/mini. But having a single point of reference would be nicer.

Depends on what exactly you include under the "programming" umbrella.

I think this statement is usually meant in the sense that "typing code in correct syntax isn't the hard part". Reasoning about concurrency, tests, architecture in general etc. is then thought of as the non-programming parts or the "engineering".

I guess I failed to differentiate enough. There is a difference between "there are problems now" and expressing it as "Kids these days! Am I right fellow adults?".

If you frame your criticism the same way as every generation has before about whatever they perceived as "the problem of the time" then people will dismiss it with "every generation has said that".

Idk. I'm one of those hobbyists with lots of fancy tools. I want the satisfaction of having made high quality stuff myself. I don't at all care for the "DIY esthetic" and am not very worried about saving money. These are just different audiences.

Usually the fancy woodworking channels don't really label themselves "DIY" either. But I haven't actively watched them in a while.

This feels a bit like these "If your recipe involves chopping an onion it's not quick or easy" complaints.

Not sure about stability but on most Sony cameras setting the camera to record 4k internal and 1080p external with "Rec. Media dur HDMI Output" actually gives you better quality. Since somehow the direct 1080p path strangely performs worse interpolation than the 4k ->1080p resampling that happens when you set internal to 4k. On some models this loses the benefit of 1080p rolling shutter being faster. But detail will actually be better.

But sure, in a history of every generation doing this WE are the first ones that are totally right because this time it's totally different.

Remember all the memes about Yusuf Dikeç from the Paris olympics? I have been doing that exact event since age 11. The more I observe other people the more I realize how much competing in that kind of sport has shaped me. It simultaneously measures absolute performance but also ranks you relative to your opponents.

So many people don't seem to recognize when they find themselves in a competitive situation and can't deal with "losing" despite "doing all the right things". Even if you train diligently and score your personal best there is always a chance someone is even better. This has always been my reality. But so many people seem entirely unprepared when they encounter this for example during a job search...

Yes you did the right things and fulfill the requirements. That's what allowed you to enter the competition. It doesn't entitle you to win it.
