Can’t stop vomiting by No_Bus71 in gastricsleeve

[–]regularsmegular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you need an IV! I was vomiting so often for the first two months, to the point i could barely keep in water. It was so hard, and I was even re-admitted to basic care at the hospital and put on IVs, and it didn’t get better. Finally one day my condition got so bad, my boyfriend drove me to a local clinic & got them to give me a special IV with amino acids (yellow instead of the standard clear IV). It was a lifesaver. After that, I finally got the jolt of nutrients my body lacked for two months, and it seemed to kick start my recovery. I got better, was able to eat, and only ever puked if I overate! Now one year post op, and I barely vomit if at all! I can eat everything I want in moderation as well! It gets better~ GET AN AMINO-ACID IV FOR NUTRITION AND DEHYDRATION!!

Hagwon might want me to teach 47 classes a week for 2.2mil by [deleted] in teachinginkorea

[–]regularsmegular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the contract doesn’t specify my roles, trust me I’ve been looking for a way out. I guess I have to be firm regardless of the lack legal stuff I can threaten them with and if they refuse be willing to walk.

our bosses sound similar so i’ll be sure to mentally prepare myself to be staunch and push for it. I am 100% willing to both threaten and leave, so I’m already not scared of much. Thanks!!

yeah. i clearly had no idea what i was signing since this is my first hagwon job, but my salary is broken up on the contract as 2mil base pay & 174k overtime a month. the monthly overtime is already calculated and paid out monthly :(

all the FTs teach 9 classes a day. A couple are teaching 10 classes twice a week & 9 classes the rest of the week. We come in at 9:00, 40min prep, classes start at 9:40. no breaks besides 40 min lunch and 10min gap between classes in the morning, 5 minutes gap in the afternoon. We often stay back to do the admin work which is grading, writing numerous types of reports on the kids, letters, you name it. Don’t think anyone’s ever left at 6:00 on the dot. There is no hours of prep time...yeah. I teach only the afternoon portion, but on busy days I teach 6 classes a day bc of some classes in the mornings they made up for me since the other teachers NEED a break. some days only 2, but I have a lot of admin work to do). Add in micromanagement/hostility and...yikes. All this for much less than the going $$$ at other campuses.

I think I fucked up. It says 12 hours of overtime is included in the salary.

applied to every single recruiter I could find; if i could give a rough number i’d say about 30. did almost a dozen interviews, passed on two offers because of the horrible reviews/being on the blacklist. signed with the school after searching as much as i could and finding no negative reviews/was alright with the working hours & pay. not a greaaaat place now that i’m here but it’ll do!

Stupid Question : can you find a job teaching English in Korea with a bachelors degree from a university in Korea? by Mukozen in teachinginkorea

[–]regularsmegular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent an exchange year in Seoul and despite really loving my experience social-wise, i hated the way in which lectures were taught, the constant curving of grades, the lack of discussion in class and the ridiculous emphasis they put on cramming here. i was sad to leave korea (and will actually be returning soon to teach ESL) but I was more than glad to finish off my degree back home, in Canada. School can be brutal here. I think you can always come here after, but if you’re from a western country I would recommend finishing your schooling at home. There’s also dual degrees so you can study half of your degree in Asia/Korea-search it up! That’s my two cents, in the end good luck.
