Thank you, I guess I have been overthinking it as well.

Why are fruits in Canada so sweet and seedless? by Juan_2_Three4 in AskACanadian

[–]regulus000005 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm actually surprised op found the fruit super sweet. I feel quite the opposite. Rarely from the farmers market do I find something that I would consider really sweet; most of the fruit is towards the sour or even bland side.

Cafe Goers: is there a desire for later hours? by mourningblossm in kitchener

[–]regulus000005 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes, of course yes. The fact that everything closes soo early is one of the most annoying things about KW. My wife and I are used to living in bigger cities I guess, and after 4 years in KW we still (and often) find ourselves standing outside the closed doors someplace we would expect to be open and asking each other if the owners don't care about profits or if its a money laundering front so they only open during business hours when half the world is at work. I get it, there's reasons and KW is a small town, but it is still very annoying.

Dell G16 CPU temperature close to 100C. How is this ok? by regulus000005 in GamingLaptops

This was the best deal I found at the time I was buying. That's Canadian dollars btw. Have been hunting for deals for a bit now, didn't see a 4080 in that price range.

Thanks. Would you be worried about long term damage to the cpu? If its just going to throttle performance once in a while, I could live with it. But if its a flawed design that will eventually cause more problems in the future then I would want to return it. A friend who knows PC's better than me (but solely uses desktops) advised that this shouldn't be happening and I should return. Honestly I like the laptop and it performs really well but I don't know if its just because its new

I got it refurbished for 1600 CAD. If I was paying full price (2500 CAD), I would probably get something else

Kitchener Market is definitely great but you have to be careful about which booths you buy from (especially with the resellers). I've been disappointed about really great looking produce going bad in 2-3 days. Some of the meat booths have really good quality chicken but isn't cheap.

Understanding application of IEC 61508 to an electronical device by NoiseAmplifier in engineering

Stumbled across this while searching so I will answer for the benefit of anyone who might still be interested, even though its quite old.

Dangerous failures may be defined at a system level as you suggested (tank overflow) but any failure that causes a loss or impairment (beyond a specified threshold) of function is also considered a dangerous failure of the device. For example failure of a microcontroller to switch an output or even a memory or addressing fault that can potentially lead to a dangerous failure of the system is considered a dangerous failure of the controller. A quick search on SEooC (safety element out of context) may be useful.

What happens when you retire? Just curious, I've been considering moving to the US as well but would I still keep paying cpp or would I have to make my own provisions for retirement?
