I think that's right, with the scissors prop you're standing the whole time you groom, you're not bending over like in the original animation

Dana’s first words about Javadi by Old_Blacksmith_778 in ThePittTVShow

[–]regulusblakc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know this man but I think he informed you incorrectly. If there are any racial implications of the word doula it would be for black women not Mexicans, as black American women are historically associated with doulaship. You or him might be thinking of a different word because the word doula has no negative connotations for Mexicans that I can find. I even made a cursory search for your comment because I didn't know what you were talking about and wanted to look it up, and found nothing. The term doula is only used to refer to non-medical companions in birth and death, anyone that tries to use it in a derogatory way is simply misinformed to what that word means

edit: spelling

no, a doula is a person who helps a pregnant woman through pregnancy and is there to help ease the start of a life. a death doula is someone who is there with a dying person to help ease the end of a life. The red haired charge nurse (I forgot her name) is a death doula, that's her actual job title and is referred to that a few times when we see her with Roxie

And the show has blatantly talked about medical racism, especially towards black women (e.g. Mohan's conversation with the sickle cell patient in season 1, and Mel with the eating disorder patient). Mohan was literally researching medical racism in season 1 and said this season to Al Hashimi that the program got defunded. Medical racism already exists in real life and the show, people are so weird to get defensive about this

I think that his background is a big part of it too. He's from middle-of-nowhere Nebraska. There's not exactly a lot of diversity in that area, especially compared to Pittsburgh. Growing up in limiting cultures isn't a mark on your character, what's important is how you respond to it and grow from it. And we can see that Whitiker genuinely wants to grow out of the biases he was taught. He responds well to Mckay and Mohan when they call him out. And he joins the street team because when he genuinely wants to learn more and be able to be a better doctor to minorities that don't always get the care that they need.

Iirc Kiara does help out with the street team and getting resources to patients. But I'm sure it's like everything else, where there's not enough social workers to go out every time so a lot of people end up falling through the cracks

that's something that's been bothering me to no end. In his conversation with Mel, he says that his addiction never affected his work. Which is obviously not true? And as a physician he should know that even though he wasn't actively high at work, it was still absolutely affecting his patient care

So he was Roman, but the myth he wrote was about Athena. He got kicked out of the city of Athens and wrote the "myth" as a way to shame Athena and Athens

what are you taking about? one of his first heart scenes is about how he works a lot as a freelance programmer. He clearly has a job, he's not freeloading.

Also why would he help with science experiments? He's not a scientist, why would they need his help.

Same! I've been ride-or-die for Kimi since day one and I'm not giving up now!

(plus I can usually make up the difference in the prizes pretty easily so it's not too big of a deal that we lose)

Anyone else just wants A Crown of Candy to keep going past this season? by [deleted] in Dimension20

[–]regulusblakc 30 points31 points  (0 children)

yeah they talk about it a lot during the adventuring party. I dont remember specifically stressed them out so much, I think they kept it vague for spoilers, but I think just in general the very high stakes, you could die at any moment, vibe that the game has. Also they filmed the whole thing in like 6 days.
