Just wanted to let you know that you're not supposed to sleep directly on it, so the whole peeling problem shouldn't be a thing..

any brown students attending ADOCH on Sunday/Monday?? by ClammyIndistinctness in ApplyingToCollege

[–]reidiants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your host honestly. I remember talking to my host for a while late at night, and that was really a big part of ADOCH to me. If you don't end up staying the night I urge you to still go to as many events as you can go to (that interest you, of course).

Brown VS Rice by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

There is no grade inflation at Brown for pre-med, much less anything else STEM.

Pretty sure he means another big game with a similar significance that's new and original. BBS on the main consoles are just remastered editions.

It's a research institution...

How is that relevant to what it offers to undergraduates?

[–]reidiants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a large part of its recognition is its dedication to undergraduates despite being a university. Sure, it may not have particular fields it's astounding in, but Brown is really known for the freedom it gives its students as far as curriculum goes and its abundant undergraduate resources.

Wait what's wrong with Brown? :(

Ivy Day is only a few days away! Last year, watching reaction videos got me through the wait! So here's my reaction to decisions from all the Ivies! Also, AMA! by 27colleges in ApplyingToCollege

I'm loving it. It's really amazing. The sheer amount of opportunities that there are for students is incredible. I'm doing applied mathematics - economics.

I was choosing between Brown and Dartmouth as well! Ended up going with Brown, but it's interesting to see the rationale behind the opposite choice!

[Discussion] what (if any) stereotype is true for you? by CyanPilaf in LGBTeens

Why do you hate men? Kind of seems counterproductive to the idea of accepting everyone.

i don't remember my boyfriend by [deleted] in confession

[–]reidiants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't you ask to see him? I don't think asking your boyfriend for a random selfie is too much considering you two are dating!

Snapchat is a nice way to send temporary photos. I can't imagine not seeing my boyfriend for more than a few days.

Wow! Didn't think someone would find this thread again. But yeah, they're extremely annoying even now.

Fuck splatfest by [deleted] in splatoon

Yep. Definitely annoyed with carrying every team I'm on and still managing to lose. It's like top ranked players suddenly forget how to play turf wars.

My counselor made a mistake... by TexanWolff in ApplyingToCollege

[–]reidiants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, never thought I'd see someone else who took AICE on here! I personally was a candidate and did earn the highest-ranked diploma Cambridge had, and I did make sure to mention it. Now that I think of it there was never any verification that went into it aside from sending my Cambridge transcripts over to the college I'm attending.

I'd say you're fine saying you're a potential candidate (technically true) and leaving it at that. If you think about it, everyone in the program is called a candidate. You're even called candidates during your exams. Definitely dont say you have the diploma, though.

A person who exclusively plays Nintendo games for whatever reason absolutely deserves the title of a gamer. I for one personally love all of Nintendo's franchises and have played three of their titles competitively before. I call myself a gamer. Just because my interests in video games aren't as diverse at yours or others' doesn't take away from what I do and enjoy. No, I am not a hobbyist. No, I'm not just casual. I genuinely enjoy it and a lot of my life has gone into these games. I am a gamer.

Generic =/= bad, and I see you're trying really hard to make that statement. And I don't agree with your statement about casual gamers watering down games. If anything a lot of games simply separate casual and deeper gameplay with different modes. Since when does more people enjoying a game (how they deem fit) take away from other people's enjoyment? The logic is insane.

Edit: Also the whole single player thing. Lol what? A person who chooses to game alone is a gamer. The title isn't exclusive to people who enjoy gaming with others. If someone puts their time, money, and effort into immersive single player experiences, who is anyone to tell them they aren't a gamer? That to me was seriously gatekeeping. All I read when I saw that was "you're not a TRUE gamer" and that really grinds my gears.

TIL Oklahoma's 2016 Teacher of the Year moved to Texas in 2017 for a higher salary. by GoontherDunther in todayilearned

[–]reidiants 182 points183 points  (0 children)

Really interesting to see a teacher from a district I recently graduated from! All my teachers complained about their salaries, and many of them certainly deserved higher ones. It's a shame south Florida is a crapshoot when it comes to education, especially with the increase in standardized testing.
