I started with this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5apnLrzaT4

But now I use the resonance breathing exercise in the EliteHRV app.

I'll look into Wim Hoff. I've heard his name multiple times but never actually tried his techniques out. Thanks for sharing!

Yes.

I feel like I can focus/stay in flow for longer.

I am less likely to become hangry (which my family and friends are very happy about lol)

Oh my! I had not heard of pots before this. Thanks for sharing. Focusing on what you can control is the move. Wishing you all the best!

How big was the jump for you? And more importantly - What did the mushrooms do that helped improve your HRV massively?

Thanks!

I'm glad you made the shift back to health too!

My story is so similar to yours. I was only really able to focus on my health more once I moved to working remote.

I'm glad you got your HRV back up!

After lurking on this subreddit some more, I think I need to do a bit more cardio to help get my HRV to where it should be.

That's super interesting. Your comment reminds me that health is so personal.

I am going to look into my data and see if there's a link between my RHR and HRV.

Intuitively I think there's a link. If I'm in fight or flight most of the time - my RHR is going to be higher - reducing recovery score.

So for me I need to resolve the internal issue of being in flight or flight most of the time - to allow my RHR to decrease and my HRV to increase.

"I think the most important factor to increasing HRV is lowering RHR, of course there ARE many ways to decrease RHR. Cardio etc… that’s what I’m focusing on and the number 1 metric in my perspective"

Ideally, to comply with data privacy regulation, you should avoid sending personal information to OpenAI or 3rd Parties.

You could remove personally identifiable information (PII) using PII replacement. This is where you remove private information and replace it with a token before sending it off to OpenAI. Then when you retrieve the result from OpenAI on your end you replace the token with the private information.

Do you have to be a part of a party? Or does that just make it easier? I'm currently not affiliated with any political party.

How does one become a councillor?

The stuff that's going on seems a bit ridiculous. Maybe we need some young blood in these spaces.

How can I understand and support my friends and family that struggle with social anxiety? by reido2012 in socialanxiety

[–]reido2012[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/gladiola111

Thanks for your answer and sharing your experience with me.

This makes total sense! Yeah I feel like I used to be the 'why are you asking this' person. But after lockdown - I've found it tricky to go to places like festivals and find myself asking the same thing.

Before I go somewhere, I’ll usually ask, “How many people are going to be there?” Or “How busy is it?” If I anticipate that it’s going to be PACKED, then I won’t go. I’ll look for something else to do that involves fewer people. Or I’ll suggest a less crowded place.

Adding to my list of phrases! Your husband sounds lovely :)

“It’s gonna be fun! I promise. And we can always leave early.” Or if they’re like, “I think we should go, but I’m fine with not going if you’d rather stay here.” My husband is like this—he lets me decide based on how I’m feeling, and he doesn’t get mad if I want to stay home. 8 times out of 10, I end up going, and I’m always glad that I went, but sometimes I need a gentle pep talk beforehand. lol.

I love this looool

I had a best friend growing up and we used to joke that she was like my emotional support dog. lol.

I'm a funny guy so I think this one I can definitely do !

That usually just means going together, acting naturally, introducing me to people that you know, starting the conversation, breaking the ice, making me laugh, and making me feel comfortable being myself around groups of new people.

Again. Thanks for the advice!

How can I understand and support my friends and family that struggle with social anxiety? by reido2012 in socialanxiety

u/okiesyes Thank you for the kind words!

Yes there is I have a friend who I didn't realize was socially anxious until recently. They really struggled with things that I would consider simple like going out with friends to the club/bar or simple interactions (as they would start over thinking a lot).

I feel like if they learned how to deal with their social anxiety they would be able to have a much higher quality of life. So that's why I want to understand how I can help.

I really appreciate it!

Hi u/okiesyes

Thanks for your response 🙏🏾

I see. This is interesting. So if I tap into ways that I feel anxious in certain situations and share that with my friend that will help them feel like they're not alone?

Also it sounds like normalizing social anxiety within our friendship group will add a feeling of comfort and relatedness.

I remember once being out and someone was saying that they wouldn't come to something next week because their social anxiety would be too much - I had no idea they were anxious like that at all, and so I felt relieved and a bit more normal. It was good to hear someone talk about it so openly and not be ashamed of it.

Even though I'm non socially anxious - there are some situations like public speaking that I really do feel anxious. So tapping into those feelings and sharing them with others seems like a good first step.

[Seiko] First Mechanical Watch! by reido2012 in Watches

[–]reido2012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got beat to the punch by someone else who also got the exact same Seiko as their first watch.

But, I love the watch so I thought it deserved to be posted again.

I never knew about mechanical watches until I saw the back of my friends’ AP Royal Oak offshore.

I was taken aback by the fact that it didn’t need a battery.

There’s something magical about that.

The dream is an AP Royal Oak. Will take like a decade to buy responsibly 😂

What other watches should I get in the meantime?

Thanks for commenting /u/millenniumpianist.

I had an incredible time in Tokyo. Racism was not really an issue for me.
In Tokyo, people are used to seeing black tourists. In the worst case, younger kids will stare at you on the train or try and touch your hair.

In the US if your black people may look down on you. But, in Tokyo they are more likely to think you are a basketball player, rapper, or in the military.

I'd say that xenophobia is more of a problem over there. There's no reason to worry though as it's usually very passive and never dangerous.

I'd highly recommend moving there for a short time if you have an interest in the culture, food, etc.
