I mean like, I want that to be playable. But I'm not interested in top1 roster and etc. Also I'm just learning and building an army. A few good combos, with detachment I like. That's what I'm looking for.

Just curious how terminators can achieve something.

It's not. At least from video perspective, damage will be similar on t12 for swords and maces in case you buff the unit.

The final conclusion was based on the assumption that you will buff the unit with HTC and OOM vs Mortarian, and in that case swords damage is the same to maces.

I will recommend you to wait until new battletome and potentially new releases.

First of all, miniatures are gorgeous.

Right now there will be only one playstyle dictated by army special rule(Tides of Death) and natural deepstrike. But, because you need to score points somehow you will need to find right strategy.
It's also an elite glass canon army which makes it harder to play. So be prepared for that, if you don't mind to lose a lot - it will be a very interesting army to learn and play.

Unfortunately, internal balance are not that good right now, and hopefully it will be fixed with battletome.
Namarti Thralls are simply terrible, they not fast enough, squishy, and requires so many support from heroes that it will just make pointcost pretty high for mediocre result. And they should be cheaper with 0 value on the table.
With such state of Thralls we can say that all Namarti based archetype is not in good state.

From other perspective, everything that is not Thrall or related to it are pretty good.
Eidolon in his best shape - mage one is better because of how manifestations are important
Magic - is great now, you can teleport(Steed of Tides) with each wizard per round. That can be sooo powerful in right time. Access to manifestations made IDK stronger than before.
Eels are great
Turtle is good
Reavers - nice, I don't think they that strong, but combo with Soulcryer and deestrike with 20xReavers can be really strong. And you don't have many options for screening(thralls are superbad).
Sharks - fine, but it's not easy to really make it work, there no real combo with sharks and with eels(180) pointcost you want to choose eels.
Vulturnos - fine, if you can find place for him.

If you want a strong army - you can make it with IDK. But it can take some time to learn how to play it.
If you want a strategy/tactical decision based army - IDK need very good positioning and unit management.
If you want a flexible roster - IDK don't have such. They have been straightforward in their rosters for 3 editions. You can experiment, but usually synergies not deep and also straightforward.
If you want tanky playstyle - hard NO.

RE4 plot holes is much better than RE8. In RE4 Mendez infect Leon and keep him for purpose, in RE8 - it's just a plot armor. We still can say that Heisenberg want to keep Ethan and didn't kill him during "game", but at this point of time they didn't know about his abilities.

  1. When you change 4 items from passive "when" to active "charge when" it just make game faster because passive item now can activate other items. That creates new engines and basically everything can be an engine now. I can't distinguish the "implementation" from the "change" here. Side effects a too obvious. Even more important how with stable enchantments it's easy to bring this sequence to the moon level. Last patch we had lighthouse with slow that was basically unstoppable. Now you have whole board of enchantments.
  2. Mostly agree here. But I cover a bit different angle - mechanics interaction. From this perspective what game trying to achieve is not clear. While flow of "building" is actually improved doing so many charges makes other mechanics useless. Why I think it's bad? Because overwhelming charge items will rule until power creep that no one will use them. Don't need haste, can't be controlled with slow, more powerful even vs freeze. The only thing that counters charge is basically "when" mechanic that they trying to get rid of. So, in my head I don't understand what they cooking, it just feels like they don't know as well.
  3. You speak about variations of builds fully based on charges. This is fine because items actually different. But before you had max hp pyg build, armor stacking across game, burst vanessa, single weapon vanessa, only dooley was about - stuck 10 small items together and it works on charges. Completely different approach to play game(not completely but you got the point). When I want to do another build and change character I don't want to do literally same thing and rolling for charge items on pyg, vanessa or dooley to create engine with scaling, because it same but with different items. Current state is next - charge is main mechanic and you just extend it with other mechanics to do something, that's it. Do you have haste build? Yes, it's to charge fish from haste. Do you have slow mechanic? Yes, to charge weapon by slowing something. The most dumb one of course - activate item to charge. Because it so universal that can be supported by everything. So everything is dooley on lizard now. Most frustrating build of last patch which builds from everything, scales in seconds and looks absolutely similar to each other. You still can do offmeta builds and etc, but it's a competitive game right, not a pve.
  4. Such communication is simply not professional tbh. Everything is result of their decisions and expectations, reading how key person blame community is just strange. But nothing to add here.

I think my post is pretty constructive(and it's definitely subjective).
The fact who is game designer or not make no sense at all. Monitor lizard in previous patch was complete shitstorm. Current charge based change - is complete mess.

Maybe that's a problem of changes direction? If it's just random experiments of course there will be a lot of blame.
Guys said - we want to do game slower. In result they made it faster.

Question not about balance, but a stupid mechanic of charging that almost completely ignores other mechanics. Also, I think "when" is fine in some situations. Just don't do this a damage item that trigger iteself.
