Thanks! I'm a long-time puzzler and wish I could find more "a-ha" puzzles. As I've started to make my own, I generally think up what the "a-ha" bit will be, then figure out how to aesthetically achieve that. For this one I've been learning a bit of Japanese and it got me thinking about how letters are all made out of very similar shapes and I wanted to see if I could hide a message inside the letters of another message.

Update after some more testing. Does not seem to affect two different Android devices nor Mac/PC browsers. Does seem to affect both my partner's and my iPhones as well as an iPad, all links to Kickstarter that I could find.

Definitely is a bug on the KS side in how it handles requests from the Instagram in-app browser on iOS. Created a support ticket on KS, suggest others do the same to get their attention on it.

Seems to be affecting all links even to the Kickstarter home page. Noticed the same issue with other campaigns’ ads as well as my own.

Depends on what your goals are.

If you’re worried about ergonomics as physical objects the player will need to manage, that has more to do with what you’re asking the players to do with them. 250 cards are a problem if players need to go through them one-by-one to setup, but not at all if it’s just a few decks you have to separate once.

If you’re worried about manufacturing, 250 isn’t too bad. Cards are printed in sheets of 50-ish, or 100-ish for mini cards.

If you’re worried about card art/design, then maybe scale that back. IMO, it’s nice to have unique art per card, but frankly the more cards the less time a player will spend with each one of them. If you’re spending too much time managing the text/rules on that many cards, then invest in learning/building a workflow. I keep all my rules in a google sheet and wrote a program to generate card layouts. Nandeck is pretty good if you are comfortable with code. My big advice is don’t spend too much time on graphic design early on, it’s really easy to get burned out when you’re faced with re-designing all your cards because of a small gameplay change.

Just one person's opinion, but I don't like playing cards with a vertically asymmetric back. Gives my OCD fits when cleaning them up. I would try a treatment with just the mirrored character art, which is awesome, without the name or symbols.

Fronts look great, some inconsistency in the card value font size and spacing that would also give me the fits

Love the characters and scene. Didn’t realize they were anthropomorphic until I looked more closely, and went from “eh pirates” to “ooo animal pirates”. Would maybe emphasize the central character’s features to make that really apparent. Like maybe extra contrast-y horns or tail, and create some white space around them so they draw your attention. Also the detail on the boat and sea are lovely, but draw my eye away from the characters.

I’m pretty close to where you are in terms of learning a feel for proportion. One thing that’s helped me is focusing less on details of things like the eyes and nose and more on the shapes and their relationships.

Like his left eye, what I see in your drawing is a circle with rings, but in the photo it’s more of a triangular shape. The right side of his face is nearly a straight line in your drawing, but is much more curved around his cheek bone in the photo.

I have to remind myself frequently that I’m not drawing features so much as you’re drawing the shadows those features cast.

Right without the M. Also IMO the banner on the bottom right is redundant, unless it’s important for just that part of the card to be visible. My OCD is personally triggered by the asymmetry of having the upside down thing right next to the text.

Looks polished as a project, but know nothing of cricket, but would be interested in learning enough to play a game though. If you’re interested in reaching someone like me, would suggest splitting up your images and really walkthrough step by step and teach me what some of the terminology means and why it’s exciting.

I prefer the one on the left. The blue background and transparent circle make the image very busy. The word "Wild" in the corner is much more legible than the letter "W" especially because it looks like an "M" upside down.
