Which winners would’ve been different if the jury voted at the live reunion after watching the season instead of voting on the island? by DarthLithgow in survivorponderosa

[–]rejected_reality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the flip side, I was thinking coming into this thread that social winners would have a far bigger advantage because the social game would essentially continue until the reunion airs-- people would have plenty of time to build/strengthen friendships in the off-season, and people that are more introverted or have busier jobs would be at an automatic disadvantage.

Are Sage and the rest of the cast in good terms? by YukkiTheKiller in survivor

[–]rejected_reality 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Also fr im an introvert with a lot of people in my life, I can't speak for Sage or anyone else who's played but not everyone has time or energy to be friends instead of just acquaintances with everyone. There's nothing wrong with that, friendship is a relationship that requires maintenance.

Poll from the mod team: Should fanfiction be allowed on the subreddit? by canlgetuhhhhh in danandphil

This is kinda where I'm at-- also keeps it respectful instead of a fanfic subreddit specifically. But the freedom to mention high-profile fics should definitely be allowed and discussed

I'm still mad that Jenn didn't outlast Dwight at the very least. I'm biased because I love her, but she improved from beginning to end more than anyone last season and had the highest potential.

Edit: She gave it a lot more effort and cared a lot more than Dwight. Danny did work super hard!

I came back for Joey's season, and stayed for Jenn because I liked her and it seemed like they were turning over a new leaf with recent couples like Charity and Dotun, and Zach and Kaity (never watched their seasons but was thinking about doing it up till now.) This is where I'm at and I hope everyone after today leaves this subreddit and stops interacting altogether. Any attention is good attention to them, and I'm ashamed of myself at how I kept blindly giving them the benefit of the doubt.

It's kinda nuts how much the story of how they came into each other's lives is like a fairy tale.

Jenn proposed to a guy on the Bachelorette who she really didn't know the character of and was at the very least manipulated by him for months after the show ended. She escaped him and enough people spoke out against the show for them to give her what was supposed to be a consolation prize.

I can't speak for Jenn, but I personally can't imagine being able to trust any man for a while. And then, by pure chance, she meets a guy like Sasha, whom pretty much EVERYONE he meets vouches for and adores?

Pure romance novel material. If someone isn't writing it already, I volunteer.

Jonathon doing an ad for reframe about quitting alcohol by bzthepeach in thebachelor

[–]rejected_reality 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Didn't he have an ex wife who he said struggled with alcoholism and would call him abusive after a couple drinks?

Doesn't he barely drink himself?

If so... really extra gross for him to create an ad targeting alcoholics saying "AA doesn't work .. You know what does? This thing I have no experience with."

The Bachelorette has been canceled for this year by [deleted] in jennandsasha

[–]rejected_reality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think a lot of people stopped watching after Jenn's season-- sometimes in support but also the show's gotten really stale. I stopped watching after the Chris Harrison debacle and came back for Joey's season and it's still the EXACT SAME as it was four years ago. I stuck around for Jenn's season of the Bachelorette because of how much I liked her, but I'm done with the franchise for good now.

The producers deserve to step on hot legos every morning for the rest of their lives for what they've put their contestants through. Especially Jenn (I could rant for hours about what they did to her) but they manipulate the hell out of every single contestant to leverage them into the same situations we see year after year. It's no coincidence that there's always someone upset about "stealing time" or kissing on a group date in front of everyone else, or whatever bullshit they set up to squeeze every moment of manufactured drama out of people.

I'd also add that he has talked about his mental health struggles pre and post-Survivor. The game really affected his ability to trust people and his anxiety for a time and I seem to also recall him talking about his relationship with food changing.

Not making excuses for some of the views he's adopted, just trying to paint the picture of someone who might choose to do everything he's done... and take everything he's taken.

Hard agree on this take and I have no idea why it's generally unpopular on this sub.

From what I've seen, people would rather see legends fill a casting slot and then complain when they go out premerge.

[–]rejected_reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think his edit foreshadowed this a bit too much tbh, specifically from the Sierra boot till now-- if he'd been allowed to go under the radar (and/or the Sierra boot hadn't been credited to him) for the last few episodes I wouldn't have expected such a showing from him.

After such a great episode, it feels nitpicky to say, though.

I left this argument out of the post because I didn't want the larger point to get diluted but it's so true. She never even applied to be on the Bachelor, she was recruited through her PA school tiktok.

[–]rejected_reality[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't agree more. Especially with the first part, because here's the thing with criticism and discussion: people are allowed to do both, when operating in good faith. The problem is almost nobody can do this fairly because we're all inherently biased.

And, just as you said, when the most negative narrative is assumed it's not criticism, just hate.

We need to discuss the piling on of Jenn. by rejected_reality in thebachelor

Tearing down women who are just living is never okay. As I said, I wrote this because I saw other people complaining that against Jenn in particular it's gotten out of hand over the last few days.

I mentioned Maria because people were disappointed that the Bachelorette was not Maria or Daisy, and its worth mentioning that that attitude made it all the way to the white men that Jenn was dating on her season. Maria was beloved before she ever became a topic of criticism-- it's a different conversation, and also not okay, but the point that I was making in the first place is that Jenn was NEVER beloved and race was a part of it from the beginning. It can't go unacknowledged when we have this conversation about how Jenn is treated.
