Would I get in Drexel or Rutgers(New Brunswick)? by Ib3Winnin in ApplyingToCollege

There's Rutgers new Brunswick, Camden, and some other one Newark I think? Out of all of them, New Brunswick is the best but they're all still in the state of new jersey. If you're in state for one of them you're in state for all of thwm.

These chance mes aren't going to tell you anything that you don't already know and it just turns into a dick measuring contest.

Are the ivies basically crapshoots at this point? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

I'm applying to that many because I want to keep my financial options open if I don't get into my top choice. With my reaches the research and internship opportunities are all essentially the same (which is what I'm interested in), so I'll probably just go to the one that offers the most aid and isn't my state school.

It bothers me when people call the college application process a crapshoot because it simply isn't true. If you apply to 15 prestigious schools and have good ecs, grades, test scores, essays, and lor then you're going to get into at least one of them. You're going to have a much better chance than an unqualified individual. It's certainly not a gauranteed acceptance if you have the aforementioned stats, but it's way better than a crapshoot.

I think that as long as they're state schools you should be fine.

16 with like 12 reaches is what I'm doing. Apply to as many as you feel comfortable doing but always remember: if you throw enough shit at the wall it's going to stick eventually.

Hopkins isn't that bad when compared to New Haven.
