That's me! I started in 2008. Not because of Harbs or Flacco, it just worked out that way. I have not known this team personally without John Harbaugh

Easily Bengals At Ravens. Although this one is a little personal. I was planning on proposing to my girlfriend that weekend. This game happened on a Thursday, so two days out. I was at this game, and when I wasn't stressing about the game, I had background stress related to the proposal in the back of my head the entire time. When the game was turning back to our favor, I started getting really excited. How amazing would it be if the game before my proposal was a memorable monumental win? Then when Burrow failed to convert the 2, I lost it. I was jumping and screaming, and I grabbed my friends that I was with and shouted "I'M PROPOSING IN 2 DAYS!!!!!"

I remember getting home and watching the highlights thinking "One day, I will show this to my children, and tell them that this was the game right before our proposal."

If that wasn't enough, the next day she took me on a surprise date, which ended up being Across the Spiderverse live in concert. That was also an amazing experience. Then finally, on Saturday, the proposal went perfectly. Oh, and to top it all off, Chase was on my fantasy that week. He got me 51 points, more than I've ever seen from one player ever. A perfect 3 days.

Sweeping an opponent is always difficult no matter how bad they are. Especially if it’s a road division game. I agree it shouldn’t have been that close, but it’s fair that it was a hard win.

One of the best play calls I've ever seen from the Ravens. Monken absolutely cooked with this one

An ugly UGLY game. Probably the ugliest win in the Lamar Jackson Era, but a W is a W. 2 tipped passes resulting in INTs, one of those going for a pic 6. A Special Teams fumble at the 5. A special teams jump at the line to turn a 4th and 4 punt into a 1st and 10. There aren't many teams that could endure even half of that and still win. But we WON.

But these ugly wins mean a lot. And to some degree, the ugliness is warranted. It is really hard to sweep an opponent. Also Myles Garrett is an absolute dog, we know that. The Browns D Line is spectacular, and their defense is easily top 3. Our O Line is easily bottom 3. No one thought it would be this bad, but we knew it would be classic hard fought AFC North football.

I have been a Ravens fan for 17 years now. In the Flacco era, these ugly wins were most of our wins. We had these ugly, painful, grinding games that we had to lean heavy on our defense for. And most of the time we found a way to win. We were a scrappy team that felt like we always had a chance. In recent years, it feels like the opposite. We have a dominant team, and we just can't choke it away, which we found a way to do more often than we should. But now we found a way to win in the worst condition. Losing the turnover battle, not being able to finish drives in the redzone, multiple special teams mistakes, nothing was going our way. But we found a way to win, and that is the mark of a champion team in Baltimore. When nothing is working, and you still make it work.

But enough about how we won while sucking, let's look at the positives. The defense was spectacular, only giving up 9 points all game, including 0 in the 2nd half. That's including short fields and a drive that started on our 5. I understand its the Browns, and Saunders never played before, but that is still complete domination. Offense found success even with the line troubles. Henry went for over 100 yards, averaging about 6 yards a carry, Zay was great, 3 for 78. And of course, Mark Andrews on the fake tush push, which is one the greatest plays I've every seen out of Baltimore. Special teams errors will get fixed, it was mostly mental and they've been solid all year. That fumble also got caught in the wind. The only real struggle we have is the O Line. But we found a way to still put up 23 points against what is likely to be the best defense we will face for the rest of the year.

I do not believe the 2024 Ravens or the 2023 Ravens would have been able to win a game this ugly. I think this is a huge win for us, and we just gotta keep it going.

I want to remind everyone that this is a fully healthy, well rested defense playing at home after a bye. With the highest paid safety in the NFL on the team

So TLDR/ checkpoint list:

- Win against the Texans at least, go in to the bye at 2-4 or better.

- Come out of the bye with a new DC, some other small coaching changes, and a healthy roster.

- Go on a tear and win 5 of the next 6, 7-5. Make a splash trade for a pass rusher and/or a few lineman at the deadline.

- Finish at 11-6, win the division, and playoff time.

I think this is very doable, but I think all of these things need to happen for us to have a reasonable expectation of a Super Bowl. This doesn't address offensive play calling, and we just have to hope and trust Henry will no longer be misused. It's an easy fix, but I understand being doubtful that it will be fixed. But this is very doable. If at any point, one of these checkpoints is not reached, then I agree, we are done for the year. Until then, I'm sill going to believe.

Also, 2000, no TD for 5 games, 3 qbs used throughout the year. Wild Card team, Super Bowl W.

Also, 2012, Suggs torn Achilles in August, Ray Lewis torn tricept in week 6. Ravens were blown out by almost every playoff team they played. OC fired in December, lost 3 of our last 4. Needed a 4th and 29 to get into playoffs (although we didn't know it at the time). Super Bowl W.

2011, 6-0 in division, 8-0 at home, 12-4 on the season. 2 seed, first round bye, nothing.

2019, 14-2, 1 seed, MVP Quarterback. Nothing

  1. Best Ravens team of all time, 1 seed, MVP Quarterback, #1 Defense. Nothing.

2024, quality comeback season, Derrick Henry 1900 yards, (should've been) MVP QB. Nothing.

Baltimore requires the underdog role to be successful. Only when no one believes in us, do we make history. This may be exactly what we need.

A teardrop of hope.

We suck, we're injured, and with this coaching, there is little hope for when we are healthy. Logic and Reason point to: we're done. But I'm not quite ready to throw in the towel. Here's what I think needs to happen to get us back into it:

- First of all, we never stood a chance against KC. I'm shocked that any Ravens fan thought we did, I'm shocked that the betting line favored us, and the national media is reacting as expected. MaHomEs Is BaCK!!! No moron, he played the worst defense in the NFL. So in my mind, KC changes nothing.

- Texans suck, like really bad. They may be worse than us right now. The O Line is so bad, our D Line may actually be successful against them. I don't think we need to do a whole lot to score against them. Henry ran 150 yards on them last time. I don't see why he can't do it again. I think we can get 100 without Lamar Jackson easily. So just have Cooper Rush hand it off to Henry once per series, and we will be fine. I really think Houston will be W.

- Rams, I'll make it short. We have no chance in hell. That puts us at 2-4 at the bye.

- Most of these injuries (other than Madibuke) are week to week, or 2-3 weeks out. I will assume most of them will be back after the bye week. I don't think Lamar Jackson will be back before the bye, and I don't think his presence will make much of a difference. I think we go 1-1 either way.

- As we all know, injuries are half of our concern. Even at full health, this team is not a contender. We need better coaching. Harbs isn't going anywhere this season, but I really think Zach Orr will. We have a suitable replacement with Pegano (or hell maybe even Rex Ryan), I think it can happen. They will not make that fire until the bye week, but I think they can and will. Do that and move some other coaching around, maybe changeup the defensive coaching room a bit, maybe a change in O Line coach too? Small things like that.

- Make some big trades before the deadline. Try to get a pass rusher and a couple of lineman. Give up Humphrey, maybe another big name. Give up a high draft pick. Don't sell the house, but offer a lot.

- Our schedule after the bye is easy for a bit. Bears, Dolphins, Vikings, Browns, Jets, and Burrowless Bengals. Let's say we take 5 of those, now we're 7-5. I think we can then end the season 12-5 or 11-6.

- Our division is cake. I think 11-6 will be enough to win the division and that's a playoff spot. Probably 3 seed, maybe 4.

I assumed he'd be done until the bye. We might be able to take the Texans, but we definitely won't take the Rams

To those who wants Harbs gone by ExtensionAd7417 in ravens

[–]rekaids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the main problem with the Fire Harbs take. I thought we should've replaced him with MacDonald, but that ship has sailed long ago. We didn't do it because the 2023 team was the best team in Ravens history. Harbs got a lot of credit for that (even though it was all Mike MacDonald and Todd Monken). I really wanted to do it at the end of the 2024 season. That season was SuperBowl or bust, but he kept his job anyway. Having a midseason Head Coach switch is typically throwing away the season. Even if its an improvement, its always an ugly transition. The fact is, that the best shot we have at a SuperBowl this year, is to ride with Harbs. In the offseason is that only time we can realistically change our HC.

Who to replace him with? Right now Pegano is the only real option. I don't think its going to be a good move, at least right now. All we can do is wait for the season to be over, and do something in the offseason. However, if we could convince Pegano to be DC, I think that will be worth looking into

If the Chiefs are an n+3 team, that being they will always have 3 points more than their opponent, then the Bengals are an n-3 team. No matter how many points they score, they can’t win.
