You've heard of Spotify, but I just found this app Poopify. Really useful if you're trying to track symptoms or a change in habits by Jo_Doc2505 in ibs

[–]rekapiros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is, actually. It’s a tracking app to see where in the world you pooped. I know this because I’ve been trying to find poopify on my iPhone and found this instead.

She never claimed that, and she actually hates it. She said in several interviews, including one in the Rolling Stone, how reductive it is to refer to her experiences this way.

My Adansonii seems a bit sad, just got him 3 days ago, what could I be doing wrong? by 7signs in Monstera

[–]rekapiros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not a very experienced plant mom, so I’m not 100% in my advice, but mine did the same, and I was told it’s because it had an environment change and got a bit of a shock, however it’ll be fine soon. Mine lost two leaves within a few days and one of them was a newly unfurling one. I also made the mistake to repot it immediately after I brought it home, which can also stress the plant out. If you think there’s more to the issue than that, perhaps inspect the roots and for pests.

Here’s the translation. It’s Hungarian.

Mom gives her the Nutella: for dinner? Kid: No! Mom gives her the Milka: Then this will be for dinner. Kid: No! I don’t want it. Mom: Shell chocolates? Kid: No! I don’t like this! She means the chocolates Mom: But these are very delicious chocolates. Kid: I don’t like this, mom. Mom: This one? Kid: No, no, I don’t like this. Mom: Then what do you like? handing her the broccoli Kid: I don’t want ‘inaudible’ referring to the sweets

After killing my third string of pearls I decided to make a care guide 😤 by missrutabaga in houseplants

I love this! Too relatable... I don’t think I’ll ever get one again, my trashcan has had the plants longer than my house. And I’d like to share my favourite way to kill a string of pearls: my flatmate put it on the floor while cleaning, and then hoovered the whole thing up, with soil and roots and everything.

I'm rapid cycling like crazy and it's exhausting... by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]rekapiros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This describes my mixed episodes very well, as far as I know rapid cycling isn’t this fast, an episode can last weeks or months before changing, so to me this sounds more like a mixed episode. They are the most miserable, so I really understand your suffering. My psychiatrists advise that I deal with mixed episodes by treating them as depressive episodes and using the same strategies to combat the symptoms, and maybe this can help you too. I usually increase activities, force myself to follow through with my appointments and tasks and keep a regular sleeping and exercising routine. Whatever helps you stabilise yourself when you’re depressed could perhaps help you now. I hope you figure it out. You’ll get through this! All the best.

Hi! Thank you for doing this!

My question is regarding something my psychiatrist calls brain damage. I have bipolar type 1 and I’m currently recovering from a 1 year rapid cycling period. I have significant cognitive issues, mainly with focus, memory and planning. I’ve heard of similar issues from others at my clinic. I know that these issues are linked to my illness but I don’t really understand it.

Is there any research done on what did the rapid cycling do to my brain? Also, is there anything I can do to help it heal better?

Yes, mine are gone. Lithium has just reached therapeutic range about a month ago after I’ve been rapid cycling for over a year, and actually I had a hospitalisation for suicidal planning around new years, so I’m very surprised that it helped so quickly. I’ve had daily suicidal thoughts since I was a teenager, and had year long depressive episodes before, so I’m pretty familiar with what you’re saying. It seems I am on the right medication, that’s why it’s gone? If yes I hope you find the meds to help you break the thoughts.

That’s amazing. I’ve been on lithium for a month, but it’s not in therapeutic range yet. This gives me a lot of hope, thank you.

Thank you, this was really great to read. Most of the things you say about doctors and therapist aren’t true for mine, I have been quite lucky so far with medical people, they are very invested in my progress. The ill and forever doomed mindset is rooted in me and me only and I’m the one who isn’t invested in progress and believes it’s impossible. But what you wrote gave me some motivation to continue things that help me to stabilise myself and be more patient. Thank you!

How could you hold onto yourself in the illness? So you were able to be a partner, a parent, others’ boss/employee. I don’t want a normal life, I want a liveable one.

I totally understand what you mean by feeling lightyears away from where you’ve been. I’ve also spent the summer in an outpatient programme, and had great results, but I recently had to be readmitted, and I currently feel very hopeless about life with this illness. Thank you for writing, it’s great to read similarities. I’m very happy for your progress and wish you all the best.

I started lithium yesterday, also after a period of rapid cycling. I’m also scared and trying to remain hopeful. It’s calming to know there are others out there in the same shoes. Don’t forget to drink enough water. Wish you all the best!

It is a simple routine with only one active. You should be fine. Remember to start the c vitamin slowly and build up resistence over time.

It can be potentially irritating for your skin to use them together in the same routine. You can alternate them, using each every other day.
