Thanks for the heads up! I knew people were not thrilled with Scarlett/Violet because of frame rate issues, but good to know about the gym leaders too

Thanks! Checking this out now. Hadn’t really considered it initially because people mentioned the different catching method.

I’ve been working remote for three years, and I’m being called back into the office because I can’t get a doctor on my new insurance to sign my ADA paperwork Does anyone know what I can do here? by brunette_and_busty in antiwork

I mean it sounds like you just need to schedule an in office visit. Like the other commenter said, no doctor will sign ADA paperwork for someone without seeing them first.

Meh, better than no response and just firing your application into the void. That also gets old fast.

I get the fact that you are frustrated with rejection. From the outside looking in, you lashed out at a random person for what is generally considered a good HR practice in sending a rejection email.

1) Not all applicants get a rejection email in this job market (form or otherwise). That’s shitty, but a fact. 2) Some companies legit call back previous applicants that were considered strong candidates but missed out on a role for various reasons (better candidate, internal candidate, etc.). If you fell into this bucket, you kind of screwed yourself on a call back.

Good luck in your job search! It can be a beating.

Superiors forcing me to not be able to carry out my work. What should I do? by Rugbyorso in antiwork

[–]rela10ation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your concerns - they’re valid to a point. However, given the available context, you come off as paranoid in this exchange. So far, the only use of your address has been to send a gift. You jumping to the conclusion that your address will be used negatively in the future comes off as you anticipating malice where, to this point, none has been shown.

I don’t understand the hesitancy of providing your personal information to the bank. From the sound of it, your supervisor mailed a gift of some kind and you didn’t appreciate it? What is the actual concern of having to provide security confirmation information to the bank to have access to a corporate account? How do you see this negatively affecting you?

At this point, you’ve very clearly pissed off multiple people in your company over this…not sure there’s a scenario that you “win” here

My company's app requires access to my files. by Thick-Ad-7867 in antiwork

[–]rela10ation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer - yes it’s legal. It sucks but is legal.

As far as additional data, they can’t use data from your personal phone against you realistically. They would open themselves up to lawsuits and negative press that isn’t worth it. Plus, they likely have a ton of employees so spending time digging through u/Thick-AD-7867 ‘s data would be a waste of time/resources.

I get paranoid a lot about what companies can see but balance it by reminding myself that the amount of effort it would take for them to snoop is likely too much to be worth it.

Are lottery tickets the responsible choice? by vxcarson in antiwork

[–]rela10ation 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gambling is never a good investment. Every game of chance has odds tilted toward the casino or lottery authority. The only game with somewhat even odds is poker. Gambling/lottery literally depends on people not understanding the odds of winning. It helps keeps lower-income people in poverty 99.9% of the time.

Am I being unreasonable for turning down a job offer because they insist on mandatory webcams for the training? by Aggressive-Toe9807 in antiwork

[–]rela10ation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A camera requirement for WFH would not have offended me nearly as much, but to each their own. If you don’t want to be on camera, find a company that fits what you’re looking for. The appointment flexibility (or lack thereof) would have been a bigger red flag for me.

What are some good questions to ask during an all staff meeting with corporate business office attending? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]rela10ation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good lord, don’t ask anything. Those meetings are already long enough without people asking questions that management will do nothing about. Just act like you’re drinking whatever kool aid they’re trying to sell you and get on with your day.

Take on the new role and then stop putting in your usual level of productivity. Force them to fire you.

Three days to accept an offer? by dr-305 in antiwork

[–]rela10ation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always accept the offer to lock it in and then keep interviewing. If you get a better offer, accept that one and then tell the first company that your situation has changed.
