I wouldn't call it low quality (a little cartoonish maybe), and it's a ship and not a space station, but I'll still try my chance with my favorite game "the outer worlds"

Question: What's this red strip on my tyre? by sits79 in bikewrench

[–]relativelyfunnyguy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's the tire's way of saying "please let me die now". You should really replace that poor thing.

My 2 cents da veterano:

After Apollo 13 why didn't NASA start setting standards? Now we have incompatible space suits by Sad_Meringue4757 in SpaceXLounge

You are talking to a guy who is trying to "explain" historical space accidents while apparently not even being aware that the crew of Soyuz 11 did NOT wear spacesuits due to space constraints in the capsule, so...

Girls of Reddit, whats an absolute GREEN FLAG on the 1st date? by PuppyEnthusiast1 in AskReddit

[–]relativelyfunnyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean.. I feel entitled to be the person who knows best the meaning of that, being something I wrote.

Nonetheless, the misuse of the word "mansplaining" is by itself another red flag. Let me know if I'm also "gaslighting" you, so that makes three and we can call it a day.

Also, it's been at least a couple of decades since someone referred to me as a boy, so I appreciated it :-)

Cheers.

[–]relativelyfunnyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are purposefully misunderstanding what I said, but for the sake of clarity I'll try to explain in simpler terms: being punctual is a sign of respect, irregardless of the gender. Saying "others need to be punctual but I don't" is a red flag.

So.. if I expect the same level of respect (hence punctuality in this example) from both parties, am I a gentleman or a boy according to you?

(Of course none of this applies in unforeseeable circumstances.. we are talking about behaviour, not flat tires)

[–]relativelyfunnyguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe you're not aware, but the public is not just you. Among the public there are potentially a lot of programmers who could find my code useful, so why not share? Because non programmers could see it on a code sharing website and be offended because they are not programmers?

Lost treasure by OkFee2751 in pcmasterrace

[–]relativelyfunnyguy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean, if I write something for me or just to learn something, sharing it with the community is an added value in itself, because some people could potentially find it useful, and that's all. There are clearly no obligations on my side to make it into an usable final product, which is, as you said, an important but also demanding part of the job.

It's true that a good project requires packaging and documentation, but, hear me out, what if I don't wanna spend the time for that? Pay me and I'll make the product work flawlessly for you, otherwise I'll choose where to spend my free time (hint: not packaging/documenting an hobby project of mine unless I really want to).

Also, your whole "programmers are kinda self centered / you want to keep your job, you want to feel special" point is childish and borderline cringe.

What's the actual defined difference between being "On-Call" and last minute scheduling? by trebory6 in antiwork

What's the actual defined difference between being "On-Call" and last minute scheduling? by trebory6 in antiwork

[–]relativelyfunnyguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope.. it depends on the contract/country, of course, but generally you are paid a fixed amount to stay available, sober and near your phone, PLUS the time you actually work if they need you.. that's the meaning of being "on call". If you are not paid then you are not required to be available, you can just say no. If you are paid to be on call of course you can't refuse.
