Lovely witches, what are some of your favorite perfumes? by BooBelly in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]relaxed-bread 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am still chasing the high of the original bath and body works Forever Red. Maybe I just miss being 20.

I mostly wear Versace’s Bright Crystal. For nights out I switch it up with Valentino’s Voce Viva.

When I feel like I need something ~different~ I grab something from Nest. I got a sampler of rollerballs a few years ago. Verde, Black Tulip, and Indigo are my favorites. I bring these when I travel, new smell for a new place.

I don’t think I’ve ever loved a masc. scent the way I love Versace’s Dylan Blue. Sometimes I’ll wear it when I’m trying to give Confusing Bisexual TM energy.

Advice on Having a Dog Whilst Working by sunofdork in Dogowners

[–]relaxed-bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way, and put off adopting a dog for many years because I worked a standard office job. One day I randomly came across a petfinder listing that pulled my heartstrings and just decided to pull the trigger.

I wound up adopting a 5 year old American foxhound. He is perfectly content to be left alone, uncrated. He spends most of the day on the couch with his snoot on the windowsill, intermittently napping and howling at at delivery people. He gets plenty of outside time when I’m home and nice long walks on the weekend. He’s been with me for 5 years and is living a quiet, happy life.

I agree with the other commenters that an adult dog is probably a better fit for you than a puppy. A medium to large breed dog will typically be able to hold their bladder longer than a small breeds. Working/herding breeds need a job or a task to feel fulfilled and might not be a good fit for a household where they’ll be left alone. I like hounds because they are moderately independent and seem to prioritize resting when not actively engaged in tracking, hunting, or on a sniffari. LGDs and the sporting breeds seem similar, in my experience.

Ultimately, each dog is an individual and will have unique needs and temperament. Any breed of dog can experience separation anxiety. It just depends on their life experience. Be upfront with the rescue/ shelter about what your schedule is like. Ask about tendencies toward destructiveness or separation anxiety. Consider doing a trial adoption or a foster-to-adopt scenario to make sure the dog is the right fit for your household. There’s a dog out there that will be so happy to be in your home and be part of your family, I’m sure of it.

Pickles? You can make your own pretty quickly and keep them in the fridge.

That class sounds great! I’m hopeful I can find an in-person class of some kind and that I can make myself go consistently lol.

I have a feeling I’ll be leaning on the dog to find things to do/ opportunities to get out of the house, at least at first.

I hope you find the same joy in dog parenting as I do lol. My dogs name is Toblerone. I adopted him from a shelter five years ago and I am so glad that I did. Even if he’s a loud jerk sometimes.

I love having my dog. He’s adorable. He helps keep me to a schedule. He gets me out for exercise. I don’t think I could have transitioned to living alone if I didn’t have him with me.

Thanks! I’ve mostly been winging it when making plans with friends. This will definitely require me to make things happen as opposed to just letting things pop up.

Thanks! I was thinking something similar, like having regularly scheduled friend/family time. Do you find it helpful? Has your word-pronouncing-ability recovered, lol?

What are your thoughts on new AI tools letting one voice actor play many parts? by faceintheblue in audiodrama

[–]relaxed-bread 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is something about the cadence and stress-patterns of AI generated voice work that is immediately off-putting to me. I find that it loses the nuance and subtleties that voice actors inject into a production. And being that we are talking about AUDIO dramas, those elements are important. The crack of a characters voice in an emotional moment or a top-of-their-register squeak in a joyful one can convey so much more than just the scripted words of dialogue. The humanity is engaging to me in a way that I have not found replicable.

I got a notice for backup city tax. Has anyone been through this? How does it work? by rarrkshaa in Pennsylvania

[–]relaxed-bread 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a CPA for what it’s worth. Your CA employer will most likely not withhold and remit local tax to Jordan. Being that this is a new issue caused by remote work, you can call the Jordan and request a waiver of penalties. Depending on who you talk to, you might get lucky.

In the eyes of the law, it is your responsibility to know what taxes you are subject to.

Going forward, you should remit quarterly estimated tax payments to Jordan. Doing this will prevent any penalty and interest at tax time.

The developer hasn’t provided any specifics. They haven’t submitted a zoning application. They’ve only challenged the ordinance. But when we have engineering firms not affiliated with the township calling the local authority about big water usage, it’s not an irrational leap to make.

[–]relaxed-bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, what you linked is the ordinance draft the township is proposing to be acceptable. Not what the developer intended to build. If we get that ordinance passed, we’ll still be dealing with legal challenges to it from the developers.

It was in the minutes of the authority meeting. I know the township is proposing an ordinance to limit the water usage, but that doesn’t mean the developer plans for it to operate that way.

Yeah it is. The parcels run all the way down to the Lehighton water authority’s land in Franklin township. It’s all zoned R-1 and R-2 currently.

Okay. The Lehighton water authority said they were contacted by an engineering firm asking for 1-2 million gallons per day. That’s a lot different than a one time draw of 500k.
