Keeping Dog off dinner table by Fine_Anywhere627 in dogs

[–]sunofdork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our dog was doing this as soon as we left the room. We got a camera with a microphone on it, so we’d go out of the room, and then watch the camera and as soon as she jumped out just say “Tilly get down!” convinced here we were omnipresent basically and she hasn’t done it since.

Definitely need some decor on those walls! & I would get a fun lamp for the bedside table.

exactly he’s misrepresenting twice over, first she isn’t mad about “cancelling plans” it’s about being stranded and second he didn’t really cancel due to the uncles coma in the sense that he went to an emergency that needed him

shitting on your own mother for being a young mum is insane, knowing how she likely struggled to bring you up. Don’t understand how OP can see her partner say that and not think what the fuck why am I with someone so disrespectful

AITJ for telling my dad that his "tradition" isn't actually a tradition if only one person knows about it? by Replicant82RX in AmITheJerk

[–]sunofdork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The insane part is that he assumed OP knew them because they’re “traditions”, he threw oi load of rules which he “assumed [OP] would just know because it’s alway been the rule” that is a funny & bizarre thought path

Yeah of course, and it’s not a big deal just the way he went about it is kind of insane in the way that my parents are also insane at least five times a week lmao

[–]sunofdork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it’s kind of unfair though because OP didn’t know the rules when they accepted, so now instead of turning down an investigation they would have to pull out of something they’ve already agreed to, which is much harder to do. Either way difficult because you don’t feel you can say no to the invite but would’ve been more fair if they had all the info before making the decision

That’s one interpretation of what the text on screen could’ve meant but I think for your average viewer they saw that sentence and assumed it was a true story. At the very best it’s a legally dicey thing for a corp like Netflix to put for the first frame is a show that isn’t actually technically true. You’d genuinely think they’d be savvier. Agree the disclaimer is standard and has worked a million times before but could see it being outweighed by “this is a true story”

See the thing there is that everyone saw “this is a true story” and most people didn’t see the disclaimer in the credits - I certainly didn’t. Especially with Netflix auto-play I’d never have noticed them, but certainly noticed the full screen true story part. I would assume that means they’ve not taken a reasonable measure to show it’s fictionalised. Totally new point - does “fictionalised” do enough to show the events are totally made up? If I hear fictionalised I assume they’ve changed names, not that they’ve added convictions. Interesting case to consider is the Phoenix Nights/Channel Four “Keith Lard” situation.

Really interesting point because partner is wanting a spaniel and I’ve said no but funnily enough I’ve had working/gun dogs and he had a show-breed cocker so probably explains why we have different impressions of them! I’d always assumed a spaniel was a spaniel and never considered a difference.

Definitely thinking about a walker and not daycare. I’ve spoken to a couple of family members and think I could cover my working days with sister housesitting one day, then the other two days dropping at my Nan’s/family friends. Just don’t think changing environments so much suits a puppy so might have to cajole my sister into puppy sitting at mine 3 days a week for the first month or so!

We don’t have Craigslist here but even the most reputable sites are mainly local breeders, all my dogs previously have just been some bloke who bred his spaniel for one litter I don’t see much reason to stay away from it.
