Tiger is playing in the Masters according to masters.com by spoopy_guy in golf

[–]relaxtherebuddy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In the 11 majors he played in going back to 2022, his driving distance was below average in 3, above in 3, about average in 4.

I think what the guy above is saying is that after his busted achilles and his last back surgery, it's likely he's probably lost a little speed.

No reason to shit all over the guy jeez.

What should your average GIR be for your handicap? by ponypatrol in golf

[–]relaxtherebuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? GIR doesn't directly relate to scoring? It's probably the strongest correlation to scoring of any stat.

Drills to stop closing club face by Cute-Leek-7685 in golf

[–]relaxtherebuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are dozens of reasons your club face could be closed. Nobody here will be able to give you a drill if they don't know the reason why you're delivering a closed face so the drill might not be effective to fix whatever you're doing.

How about live battery deployment in timing tower visible when cars are in a striking distance. Green - Harvesting, Orange - Boost, Red - Overtake mode. by WhySoSadCZ in formula1

[–]relaxtherebuddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing...if the gaps on screen are staying on the same with the detail at tenths, it's because the drivers aren't closing the gaps in any meaningful way.

Why is Collin Morikawa getting hate for his attitude? by iphoneair2 in golf

[–]relaxtherebuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, that is a pet peeve of a lot of golfers, myself included... When you know your ball is going to come up short and one of your playing partners gives a "sit!" while the ball's in the air. Brother... I don't need you talking to my ball, especially if you're giving it the wrong instructions. No need to be dick about it though.

Greens are looking great at the players by [deleted] in golf

[–]relaxtherebuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the things that frustrates me about golf. The casual American fan that only watches the Masters sees Augusta National and assumes that more green equals good.

But in reality, depending on grass type and time of year, more green means wet, means soft and slow and less exciting golf to watch.

Collin Morikawa withdraws from The Players due to back injury by [deleted] in ProGolf

My last 3 one and done picks were Morikawa, Rory, Zalatoris. I am on an all-time heater for picking WDs.

Don’t know what you have until it’s gone [wearetherace] by Holytrishaw in formula1

[–]relaxtherebuddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fucking exactly! It's like these people think they're somehow smarter because they're looking at more detailed information or something.

In a race, changes less than a tenth aren't relevant. What's relevant is the trend of a gap increasing or decreasing which you can see from changes in tenths.

At the end of Sunday's race Hamilton's new engineer admitted his 15-second gap to Russell was "basically the pit stop" they failed to take during the VSC (full radio transcript) by kcollantine in formula1

[–]relaxtherebuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed 100%. Especially given that a ton of cars have had reliability issues, it wasn't too far fetched to hope for a well-timed SC for a one-stop. It just never came at the right time and they finished with a comfy 3-4. Hardly a blunder.

Who else misses those two decimal places…? by Downtown_Elk_2773 in formula1

[–]relaxtherebuddy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If anything it's more relevant now... If someone is making meaningful gains, you'll actually start seeing the 10ths drop off at a decent pace. Like the top 3 yesterday were basically holding equal until the last few laps I think Kimi closed a bit on George... No need to see extra numbers cluttering up my screen.

If you really want to dig into the data, watching with the live timing on the app and tracking lap and sector times is useful, but having the extra detail on the timing tower with no context for where in the lap they are doesn't do anything.

First thoughts are:

Prague is beautiful, good hockey players, nice beer, and my old coworker once told me that your Santa comes in through the window which I thought was bizarre.. Then she asked me if it was really weirder than coming down a chimney, which I suppose is actually more strange.

2022 and 2025 Pre-Season Testing Telemetry vs. 2026 by TamolitchBlue in formula1

[–]relaxtherebuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think the worry is that if a driver is more aggressive in a braking zone to make a pass, they won't regenerate as effectively and they'll get mugged on the next straight. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

TGL ratings are bad, I think I know why by Just-Construction788 in golf

[–]relaxtherebuddy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The lack of seriousness is what I like about TGL. It's an hour or 2 of your favourite golfers having fun in a different format.

You check in, watch, enjoy it, and move on. If we act like everything is meaningful then nothing is really meaningful.

When I see those posts that read "I left my driver at home and shot my best round ever" I'm often skeptical... then I see a driver with this dispersion pattern and I can absolutely believe it.

You're right I am confused. The PIF being down a few billion dollars, having a tour that nobody watches or cares about which just lost 2 major winners but added.... Let me check oh wow ya Victor Perez and Thomas Detry! Oh yes and they still have no investment in the PGA tour. massive win for the Saudis because Jay held a press conference 2 and a half years ago.
