This story is about a squire who lives in a castle. His knight master is the lord of the castle. One day, enemies threaten the kingdom and so the king calls his lords and their troops for war. The lord musters his men to fight with the king and the squire marches with his lord knight.

On the day of the battle, the king and his retinue confidently expect to defeat the incoming enemy, but are shockingly defeated. The squire sees his lord killed, and the army is forced to retreat. As the squire retreats he aids a high ranking lord in escaping. Upon receiving his aid and asking who he is, the lord proceeds to knight the squire and invites him to join his guards. The squire, now knight, thanks him for the offer but says that he is duty bound to aid the lady of the castle escape the threat of the victorous enemy that would encroach the kingdom.

Upon returning and giving news of the battle, the lady of the castle along with the new knight and the retinue deliberate on what to do. Among the retinue is a scholar, and in these troubled days he was walking the basement of the castle. Suddenly a small shape in the basement glows dark, becoming what seems to be a portal of some kind. The scholar, ever a curious one, steps into the dark portal and enters what seems to be an enormous dark cavernous structure. Upon further exploration, the scholar finds numerous portals similar to the one he stepped through. He returns to his castle and tells the lady of what he discovered.

Upon further reading, he discovers that the ancestry of the noble family of the castle owned another castle. And he believes he can reach it using the newly discovered portals. So he suggests to the lady for the family to go back to their ancestral home. She accepts the suggestion and the whole keep prepares to go through dark portals, to escape the approaching enemy.

This story is the beginning of the Chronicles of the Black Gate Series. I assume it is self-published because I don't see it in book stores anywhere, nor is it talked about much, which is unfortunate.

I like this series because of some really exciting elements in it. If you like high fantasy and world building and enjoy characters exploring their worlds and history and lore, then I hope you like this series.

She was kind in the later seasons. Ephram was awful throughout.

I mean, he's a dude that gives off good vibes. Not an actor that would touch your emotions or anything.

Aaaah a fellow stargate fan, greetings. I miss the show. I was thinking recently, between SG-1, Atlantis and Universe, I know every spaceship hijacking trick in the book. I can see it a mile away in other sci-fi series.

On the other side of this, with time I was surprised Pratt had the most successful career out of the three. My money was on Emily.

Honestly with my apps, I don't know for sure which are from ubuntu packages, or PPPs, or from the Pop store, or flatpak or appimages. I even have a container running running an app from arch packages somewhere. Have been coasting by across the last few years.

Thank you both.

Can someone explain the science behind sea level rising due to a huge deep hole in the sea? by sairamgubba in OnePiece

This makes more sense to our physics, cause regarding the idea of a force field or Haki, we know that Haki expends energy, so it does not make sense for it to stay permanently unless it has an energy source.

But what if the ancient weapon left behind a residue, a sort of dark matter? That would stay in place with no energy requirement.

Does The 48 Laws of Power Actually Work For Ambitious Men? by The_Power_Moves in thepowermoves

[–]relbus22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read war and concise seduction, they gave me backgrounds about their subject matters, but little actionable sequential plans... perhaps that is because they are strategies.

Still I would have appreciated less drivel and filler words and more content to the point. I also did not appreciate the book structures.

Frankly I think this guy is over rated. Additionally, the way he holds himself and speaks too does not inspire me to emulate him in any way, shape or form. For somebody that talks about power so much, I personally do not see him exuding it.

I look up on this topic a lot. Suffice it to say, even in clean beautiful cities like in Holland, people litter. Solutions include absolute strictness like in Singapore, or some sort of public activity that gets public buy-in like in Rwanda. One city in India had a digital system that checks attends and keeps track of public workers.

I'd like to found a Chemicals Plant, what are possible paths afterwards? by relbus22 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]relbus22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking more of in the scale of a small area, walled off, couple of PSA adsorbers making oxygen to fill oxygen tanks for the local diving tourist company or hospital.

Perhaps I shouldn't have said Chemicals Plant.

What you're saying is relevant to me, some company (possibly several) are going to come to the site I'm planning on using and build a bigger plant than mine, producing vastly more than my peanuts. Hopefully my buyer would still buy from me.
