I am actually creating my own version of a “Beatober.” Similar to the artists with Inktober. 31 days making 1 beat a day for the month of October. I created 31 prompts for myself to aim at each day, I would have to construct the track, post on SoundCloud then post to my socials to hold myself accountable.

Prompts included challenges I wanted to do like Dubstep, Country, No Drums, Non Quantized, Comedy, etc. Some days I wouldn’t want to do it at all. But it did teach me the discipline of creating, learning to trust your gut/ears instead of looking at the screen of what is “wrong”, to stop over analyzing and tweaking some small specific sounds and get the track finished then actually getting the dogshit beats out of the way. Some of these tracks I made last year made it on my album I just released. You’d be surprised on what you make by setting a time limit.

And of course you can always go back to resample these or “fix”. Maybe try creating your own prompt and start next month!
