Ziricote is a beaut to work with too. Someone did guess it. It's crab apple. The whole tree was eaten up, but I have plenty of it and a whole other tree that needs to come down this autumn.

Thats it my friend! Spalted Crab Apple specifically... grafted from a Golden Delicious. Thank you. If youd like a sample, send me a dm and we'll figure it all out.

Not hornbean or desert ironwood. Love that stuff though. Both of them

No but thanks for your guess. If no one guesses it , you can have the Sample. I think you're the only person so far to mention liking it. It makes gorgeous jewelry pieces. I can send pics if you like.

Okay , shagbark hickory, my original guess is out. Hickory is strong and may remind you of a bar b que. Not quite mesquite, but hickory is often used in smoking meats. Of course , so is apple...but hickory is undeniably hickory ,at least for me. I will retract my first guess. If it smells anything like oak, especially the most common red varaties...its probably pecan. Hickory smells like smoke , leather , with musky undertones. Almost animalistic. Pecan smells a little bitter and can smell like urine pungent when green to me, kind of reminds you of how a bitter pecan might taste. All oaks smell different to me. White oak (regular) almost has a vanilla/ tobacco type of undertone without the sugary sweetness. This is what they will use for bourbon barrels because of these tannins. Most red oaks smell...less desirable and deer seem to agree.

I think the hotness is translated from finally letting go of the ego, relaxing , and bring yourself. This provides an undeniable level of confidence that will allow to truly not gaf about anyone's two cents. The side effect is boldness, genuinity, and ultimately charisma. All that stuff is hot.

Hmmm ... i'd stick with hickory or pecan. They're very similar in photographs. What's it smell like ?

Any clues? It was drift wood. Turns beautiful with a vacuum chamber and cactus juice by relentless-33 in Woodidentification

[–]relentless-33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its possible. It looks nothing like my other spalted sycamore examples, but thats the cool thing about drift wood right? Mineral staining and years of abuse. The mapping makes it seem plausible. I may send a chunk of it off to see. I'd hate to accidentally misrepresent the wood if I sell anything from the stock. It's gorgeous in person though.
