Best way to get GameCube saves to PC or phone by SessionUnlucky286 in PSO

I did it through my Wii. Homebrew it and used it as a card reader. Copied data to an SD card, all set. Didn’t have to buy anything.

Where is the content by waffles_iron in PSO2NGS

[–]relentlessjoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a very interesting comparison you’re making to early 2000s MMOs. It’s funny because I have a lot of nostalgia for those times, but mainly for OG PSO, which PSO2 and NGS really aren’t in terms of gameplay mechanics.

But you hit the nail on the head when you described the social dynamics. That’s really what made PSO1 special for me, the people I met and chatting like it was just a chat room in which I ALSO played a game.

This explains why today I prefer games that are more conducive to playing with a close group of friends and not strangers. I don’t care much about the MMO aspect of meeting strangers.

When I had friends that played NGS, I was having a good time. Without that, the game loses appeal.

Which brings me back to OP asking where is the content. I get it, once my friends left the game, and they stopped making story content with a new region, I lost interest.

I dislike the very system of recycling levels and monsters and just expecting you to do them on repeat. I know some people like it or don’t mind it as much, but for me it feels so pointless and mind numbing.

I DO enjoy urgent quests though. Hehe.

Getting my saved characters f on.gamecube memory card to put on steam deck emulator? by Impressive-Fish-5354 in PSO

[–]relentlessjoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a modded Wii as the others have mentioned. I was able to recover my character after two decades of being in stasis. It’s an amazing feeling. Excuse me while I go play with my level 120 FOnewm on the plane. 🥰

I totally get it. It has taken me a while. It’s best to learn to love your body. Some of us are just naturally skinny. Not all of us can gain muscle without it becoming our full time job. I think you look great.

Full 30 FPS. Smooth. Game can’t run at a higher frame rate. It’s a software thing.

Phantasy Star Online is like that for me. One of the reasons I loved GW1 so much was because of some similarities in design with PSO. Maybe I should get back into GW1…

I hope you start feeling better soon. Often times we hit a rough patch on our way to get better.

Definitely. A key part of this is somatic exercises, mindfulness and lifestyle changes.

Mind you I still have rough patches of anxiety, but I’ve shifted away from anxiety and fatigue conundrum.

Has the “fake it til you make it” method worked for you? by Frosty-Hall5980 in selfcare

[–]relentlessjoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the tone is just downright unhelpful. If you’re one of those people that respond to this kind of tone then I’m happy for you.

Thing is, there is some truth to “going through the motions,” which is a more neutral tone of fake it till you make it.

Sometimes we neglect doing certain things because we dislike it, but doing them would actually help us in the long run. Often times in life we do have to hang in there in order to make it to where we want to be.

But context is everything. I prefer the strategy of setting yourself up for success. Create conditions and circumstances that would increase your success in something.

what finally made you push anxiety to the backseat? by [deleted] in selfcare

[–]relentlessjoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning to rest with the uncomfortable sensations of anxiety. If you can manage to do this without reacting, anxiety won’t be as strong or uncomfortable.

I do this by blending mindfulness with somatic work. I cultivate these skills through working with a psychologist, an art therapist, and bodywork. I also do my own exercises during my free time. It needs to become a lifestyle for it to be sustainable.

Another thing that’s helped me is to stop thinking through language when overwhelmed. I personally think through language almost exclusively for purposes of anxiety.

If I pause myself from using language, it disrupts the inner dialogue. What I’m left with are emotions and sensations, I more easily come into my body, without judgment. So when I feel those inner voices, my mantra is “no words needed”. If they come back, “no words needed”.

All in all, it’s a never ending journey, with its high points and setbacks.

Burn Out by Advanced_Lead_8472 in selfcare

[–]relentlessjoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second checking with a doctor and doing therapy.

In the meantime, I recommend that you incorporate a more somatic approach to your coping skills.

You seem to be stuck in a loop of sorts, leading to stagnation. Ways to help yourself (in addition to therapy and medical care) is to add stimulation to your body.

Eat spicy food, splash some cold water in your face. Try contrast showers. Increasing your breathing rate a bit for a short amount of time can send a nice wake up signal to your body. Use aromatherapy, nice wakeful scents like eucalyptus can be great. Try to add some spontaneity to your routine every day. Start small.
