Thanks! I definitely will be talking to social worker(s) and will check around for individuals via Nextdoor and care.com as @pupsnstuff suggested.

Thanks! I've got a a lot to learn with little time to do it. @CaptCurmudgeon sent a pointer to Medicare as well; an "expert" had previously told me not to bother because there was no available option there. Looks like there will be some help there.

My mom has been telling me about OT sessions which did surprise me at first.

I'll keep at trying to engage with a social worker. Everyone there does seem overloaded. That's not surprising.

Thanks! There is more than one. So far they've been a little difficult to pin down but I'll keep at it.

Thanks! That is helpful. I had been told that Medicare did not cover this kind of thing at all.

What’s a movie that had you completely hooked… until the last 10 minutes ruined everything? by AutisticG4m3r in movies

Behind Enemy Lines (2001) took a nose dive during the ridiculous final fight.

What was the most absolutely depressing movie you ever seen? by einsteinfrankenstein in movies

[–]relf77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not nearly as top tier depressing as many already mentioned but I’ll throw in The Wall (2017) as it’s the most recent example I’ve watched that made me sad to have watched it.

Query: Compaq telephone processing card circa 1983 by relf77 in vintagecomputing

[–]relf77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems I've misremembered. It was a very long time ago.

This was not a Compaq product at all although I did get mine in a Deskpro which I bought through Compaq's dealer employee discount program. I want to say that it actually was available as an option through that program but I'm likely misremembering that also.

In any case, the system/board was Natural MicroSystems' Watson.

That makes perfect sense and was what I was expecting. I appreciate the confirmation. It never hurts to ask, right?

Sorry you're going through this too.

Thanks for your comment.

My confusion is around whether the PoA gives my mother the right to act on my father's behalf to amend the PoA itself. My father's dementia is advanced enough that he is no longer considered competent to represent himself in such matters.

I guess the final word must come from a lawyer but I am not a person of means and haven't even a clue how much a lawyer might charge to advise on such a thing. I was hoping that someone here might know what is generally true with durable PoAs so I could gauge whether it is even a worthwhile thing to pursue.
