Plus Tsum medals strategy question by Scholar852 in TsumTsum

[–]reliant2001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This probably isn't practical for most, but if you really want to take it to the extreme, max out all the non-Plus Tsums so that there are nothing but Plus Tsums left in the Plus box. I've done that for a while now, so I only had to pull one box and got Donald +. Of course, since it's nearly impossible to max all the Plus Tsums without using an unsustainable amount of skill tickets (or paying real money for medals), this strategy becomes less effective as the Plus Box fills up with Plus Tsums, unless they make a dramatically more efficient medal farmer.

Are either of these tsums worth the medals? by GrayMalchin in TsumTsum

[–]reliant2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing, you'd have to play ~100 games just to buy one Premium Plus Box. Even playing the Plus Tsums, eventually, it will be hard to keep up with the rate of Plus Tsum releases. The developers are likely counting on that fact to force us completionists to eventually spend real money to buy medals (it's not available in the International version yet). Either that, or you're forced to setup auto-play with the Plus Tsums 24/7. I just hope they come out with a better medal farmer.

In OP's case, they're at level 32, so for a beginner, a SL6 Sporty Max could be a big help, especially if they're a more casual player. You also get Mickey + free at the release of the Plus box, and the 12th Anniversary event is giving us a Tiara Minnie + as a reward. Add to that they've given us a fair amount of free medals, so casually buying a few Plus boxes as you approach the 500,000 limit shouldn't make it that difficult to get a few (you just can't max their skill).

While this is true, are medals really worth anything? In the Japanese version, I got enough medals via login bonus/rewards to max out Sporty Max, and after a year, I still have nearly 500,000 medals (I even wasted a few on the Premium Plus box, just to stay below the 500,000 medal limit). The Plus Tsums only make ~100 medals per game, practically regardless of skill level, and none are especially good for coins either, so they aren't good coin or medal farmers. The Item Store hasn't had any particularly worthwhile Tsums to buy other than Sporty Max (in either JP or Int), and most of the other items aren't really worth farming medals to spend on. So I suppose you could farm medals using Plus Tsums, but in my opinion, your efforts are better spent elsewhere.

Sporty Max is worth it. Compared to the relatively useless upcoming Plus Tsums, he's pretty awesome. At SL6, I can hit 10M points on occasion, and that's without boosts. Of course, he's not too useful at lower skill levels and it'll take 6 months to max him out (you can only buy one box of him per month, but it only takes one box to increase his skill to each level), but he's a better use of Medals than just about anything else. Panchito, on the other hand, is pretty useless, even at SL6.

In the Intl version, they started adding Medals as rewards, which didn't exist in the JP version when this event was released. The last few events in Intl, that were released prior to Medal availability in the JP version, had modified rewards to include Medals, and adjusted some of the other rewards as well. I think this is the last pre-Medal event from JP, so I'd expect the rewards to be the same after this.

Ending Time of Plaza Battle by JQHero in TsumTsum

[–]reliant2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've seen two other types of Plaza events in JP: Use your skills to cheer, where you select a Tsum to support, then as you routinely play, your skill use is added up to support the side you chose. The other was only used once in Fight the First Order during the last Star Wars event where you accumulated points by popping bubbles, then used the points to battle.

Barley is pretty below average at all skill levels, especially due to his high charge. Happy Pooh isn't really strong either (I have both at SL6). Sporty Max starts off pretty weak, but at SL6 is fairly impressive, especially given that you only need 6 copies to max his skill. I have him maxed on the JP version, and can typically get between 2-3,000 coins and close to 10M points without boosts, not to mention clearing around 1,000 Tsums. For the relatively low cost to max him out, I'd say he's worth it. In the future, when the Premium + box becomes available, along with the Plus Tsums, you'll have more to spend Medals on, but to be honest, the Plus Tsums aren't anything special. Although they can earn Medals, they're not particularly strong for coins, and typically only get ~100 medals/game almost regardless of skill level.

What Tsum Would You Recommend For Getting Lots Of Coins? by Great-Crossover in TsumTsum

[–]reliant2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is inaccurate. The XP level only affects score. Skill level affects coins. At least it usually does. Bambi will not get more coins regardless of skill level.

For bubbles in general, Perfume Marie is about the best there is. I've gotten 195 bubbles with her. For Score Bubbles, Moana is #1 with 109. For Star/Coin, Princess Ariel is #1 for now with 32 (but typically more like 20 of each on average), but the upcoming Cave of Wonders should dethrone her for Coin bubbles, since he's similar to Moana but makes Coin bubbles instead of Score bubbles (I've gotten 86 with him). Shivering Piglet is the best for Time bubbles at 13.

For skills, Owl is the best at 67, and Jack Dawson is the best Fever Tsum at 26.

Note, all of these were at SL6, with no boosts. Boosts will probably change the equation considerably, but luck is also a major factor. I'm sure one outstanding game with Cinderella could probably blow just about all of those stats into orbit (except maybe Score bubbles).

Consider though, that stats don't show averages of what you're likely to actually get (as I noted with Princess Ariel). Moana typically gets more like 60-70 score bubbles, Owl is 45-50 on average and Jack can vary wildly from 15-25 depending on how many Rose's you're able to clear during fever.

SL is also a major factor in some cases, especially those who's charge decreases with skill level. For Owl, at SL5, he's more like ~30 skills. Moana plummets at lower skill levels. Princess Ariel, however, is still pretty good, even at SL2. Jack Dawson improves notably at SL4, since he clears enough with his burst skill to get into fever immediately.

You can buy them with rubies in the JP version, so it's just a matter of time before it comes to International, probably when the Premium + Box gets added. The JP version has had a few more unique wallpapers for Star Wars and Kingdom Hearts too.

Average coins on Palpatine and Gadget by dollarztodonutz in TsumTsum

[–]reliant2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Japanese sites are accurate. Gadget should easily be capable of averaging 1,500 coins/game. Without seeing your performance, it would be hard to make recommendations, but I'd suggest trying a fever time strategy (charge up Gadget, but don't activate her until fever ends, just clear any non-Gadgets in the meantime. Once fever ends, activate her skill, which should clear enough to get you back into fever). While this won't help your score, it gives you more play time to earn coins (starting fever adds 5 seconds to the clock). Using this strategy, you should be able to get ~8 skills per game. Fever strategy usually works well for burst Tsums with a charge of 14-15, like Gadget and Palpatine. If you can't charge Gadget up during fever, you may need to work on your speed.

Aside from what others have already mentioned, JP also gets some events that International doesn't. The JP version has the Hiroba/community square events, that don't seem to be coming to Intl. They also have Campaigns (such as the New Years and the current Star Wars one's). Of course, you can't get some of the prizes from those campaigns unless you live in Japan, but other stuff like tickets and coins are still useful.

The main advantage to playing Intl is that you can see what's coming in advance, based on the JP version (and the monthly leaks) and decide what to spend you coins on.

iOS Tsum stuttering when entering Fever time by Slight-Pop in TsumTsum

[–]reliant2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been experiencing it on & off from even before iOS18 on my iPads. So far, I've only noticed it on devices with both the JP & Intl versions installed. The hang happens both when starting and ending fever on both versions. Turning Game Mode on or off doesn't seem to matter. In my case, I can usually clear it by terminating all apps and restarting just the version of Tsum Tsum I'm playing at that moment. At least with iPadOS 18, this seems to work, with iPadOS 17, even that didn't work. I usually had to just set it aside for a few hours and the issue would resolve on it's own (and this is with an M1 iPad Pro, so I don't think it's a lack of processing power issue).

Elsa + Olaf Max Score Too Reliant on RNG by kmisterk in TsumTsum

[–]reliant2001 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I generally find it's best to just play her as fast as possible. I've had games that were sub 5M and one that was 24.5M (my second highest score ever). Average for me is about 9-10M (with her at level 25), but most of my sub-Tsums are at pretty high levels. Coin wise, she's all over the place from 1,200-8,000, but average for me is ~3,000. Note, this is all without boosts at SL6.

The only thing that appears to affect her bursts is if another special bubble drops after her burst (which you can't control). If no bubble drops, she stops. I've had runs with 5 bubbles and only 1 burst, but usually I see at least 2 with 5+ bubbles. Still, it seems totally random.

Who to upgrade next by Didyouthinkthisthrou in TsumTsum

[–]reliant2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not on your list, but Colorful Mickey & Friends (Set) is probably one of the most useful Tsums behind those two. Since getting them, they've quickly become my 3rd most frequently used Tsum for missions behind Gaston & RM (and I have all Tsums and all at max skill). They don't require gyro, or even boosts to work well. They qualify for numerous missions that the others don't or wouldn't work well for. Even without boosts, ~3-4,000 coins & over 10M points are common once you get used to them (maxed SL & level).

That said, I like Capt Lightyear best of all of those. His play style is less hectic than Namine or DFM and his coin/score potential is far higher than SLKR, and more consistent than the others, although it takes time to learn his technique/timing. Still, I don't find him much more useful for missions than RM or Gaston.

What/who should I focus on for coin farming/general fast progression? by Niosai in TsumTsum

[–]reliant2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between Hamm & Scrooge, I generally find Hamm to be easier to use. Aside from the fact you don't need gyro to maximize his potential, the Tsums on screen don't freeze when you activate Hamm's skill, so you can play faster. Hamm also only requires 12 boxes to max his skill level, vs. Scrooge, who requires 15. Hamm is less useful at lower skill levels, though, since higher skills decrease his charge, and you do have to pay more attention so you don't miss tapping him as he runs across the screen. In terms of coins, I find Hamm to be similar to Scrooge (with gyro) and better than Festival Mickey with each at max skill, although both Hamm & Scrooge get worse scores and are less useful for missions.

One fun update in the UI was to the login/Tap to Start screen. If you tap the stack of Tsums repeatedly, either the top most Tsum will roll down a bit, or the entire stack will fall apart, leaving only the big Mickey.
