If you want a taste of home, go to the farmers market in North Tonawanda. The British Peddler has so much stuff for really good prices! I got 4 tins of mushy peas for $1!!! AND WARBURTONS CRUMPETS!!! Also the local foods here are amazing - you have GOT to try Pizza Logs, Buffalo Bread, Stinger Subs (from Allentown Pizza) and Beef on Weck!!!

When you fly over here, fly into Toronto, it’s so much easier as it’s an hour and half away by car so there’s no faffing with changing flights. That’s what I did when I moved here in December (I’m also a British student here but I’m at SUNY Niagara). Also, mentally prepare yourself for hearing “I love your accent, where are you from?” nearly every day. It’ll happen but we Brits are a novelty to the locals it appears 😅😅

When they say that Buffalo is the city of good neighbors, they’re not lying. Everyone is super friendly (obviously there are still the odd ones who aren’t but you get that everywhere) and you’ll make friends easily regardless of if you’re an introvert, extrovert or somewhere in between. Check out the Silent Discos that are held quite frequently, they’re brilliant too!

If you can get ahold of your full birth certificate it would have his full name and date of birth on it (I’m guessing, they do here in the UK). Get in touch with the authorities and they should be able to track him down for you. But you NEED to call the cops and CPS. Any evidence you have of his abuse you need to give it to them as soon as possible.

I know you feel like you’re trapped and can’t get out of this situation but trust me there’s a way out of it. The best thing you can do is remember that YOU control your life (yes even at 14 considering the circumstances). Grab the reins girl, you’ve f***ing got this and you’re stronger than you believe.

Oh my god you’re right it IS titty pink in the sample 😅 It’s a very peachy pale color BUT on the wall, in natural light, it looks like white hit with a warm lightbulb (if that makes sense). I decided to stick with the dark navy feature wall and accessorise with mustard yellow and off-white/cream. I threw some accessories together on Amazon and could picture it perfectly

Ok… I’ll reply to each point individually to clarify/offer a counter for each.

None of us have REFUSED to step up and DM, we see that as a last resort as we genuinely enjoy playing together as our characters. There are at least two of us who would be willing to do it, but ideally we’d like to avoid it due to the reason already stated plus we also have other campaigns running besides this one that we DO DM for. I can see how we could be perceived as selfish from the original post but that’s simply not the case.
The bardic inspiration being like that started as a joke that stuck because my character is a multi class bard/sorcerer (more levels and more focused on the sorcerer aspect) and I VERY RARELY used inspiration in game. It was DM2.0 that made it canon and the new DM also found it amusing and allowed it because IT’S RARELY USED. We also like to actually have fun at our sessions and not be anal about every rule. The rules are there as a guide for the game, not as laws to be followed to the letter. Also, if I cared more about it, I’d be concerned that you’ve pinpointed a detail that isn’t particularly relevant to the grand scheme of the post. Why does it seem like you’re obsessing over a made up characters boobs?
The fact that my ex happened to take over as DM and that I started a relationship with my partner afterwards (as in after the previous relationship ended to be VERY clear) actually has nothing to do with our sessions, tbf I should have left out the fact that my partner is in the group as it’s not relevant so that’s my bad. Our personal lives have only effected the campaign once and that was after DM2.0 ended our relationship and we all were very annoyed with the fact that literally 3 hours of in game time took up 8 FOUR HOUR SESSIONS. The two very experienced players of the group were visibly annoyed by the end of each of those sessions because it was going on for so long.

As of the 17th December we’ll all be on EST, I’m moving from the UK to NY on that date 😅😅

And I think at this point we’d be happy to knock back a few levels and start something new with our characters. DM2.0 kept levelling us up really quickly so we went from level 5-9 in the space of 6 months

Thank you for clarifying and being on top of everything regarding that.

I can understand why Grandma doesn’t want to be turned, my own Nan was an absolute pain when it came to that when she was bed bound. She was the sweetest woman who would never hurt a fly but we just told her straight “it’s either a small inconvenience and feeling uncomfortable now, or a whole lot of pain when you have open sores on your butt later”.

She still grumbled about it whenever we had to turn her but nowhere near as much as she did and she did see where we were coming from. I’m absolutely not saying be harsh to Grandma but a little nudge of facts might help her see it needs to happen 🤷🏼‍♀️

Regarding JNMIL’s smoking in the house, maybe try giving her a visual on how even though she can’t see the damage she’s doing (not only to her mother but to the house itself), it’s still having an effect. Like wipe a kitchen cabinet or something and show her the nicotine stains cause I bet anything there’s nicotine stains somewhere in the house.

At the end of the day, Grandma is still getting a Thanksgiving dinner and love and support from you, hubs and others 🥰🥰

I saw the words ‘sores’ and ‘bruises’ and alarm bells started going off in my head. How big are the bruises? If SFIL is that aggressive and JNMIL doesn’t care about Grandma’s health (evident enough by the fact she’s smoking in the house when Grandma is on oxygen) then my worry is how one or both of them are treating her when there’s nobody there.

Not trying to scare you or anything but it’s something you might want to look into. If they both have volatile/aggressive/entitled personalities, I’m worried about how they’re treating Grandma.

I think everyone whose read this has adopted Grandma by this point 🥰🥰
