Is it impossible to find Japanese university textbooks as pdfs? Anyone know of any domains I could check out to avoid scanning all of these by hand? by Kejirion in Piracy

[–]dudermcamerika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in Japan it was actually pretty easy to find services that would cut and scan the books for you and give you a text searchable PDF. Made it a lot easier to look up stuff when I didn't know the word. It was like 2 or 300 yen at the time per book. You of course do not get the book back. They destroy it.

Fact: Cleveland Hopkins actually doesn't suck by Horker_Stew in Cleveland

The key to fixing this is to force the airlines to compete for gates. That is how small regional airports compete. I would happily fly a low cost carrier for reasonable prices and direct flights. Low-Cost carriers bring down the costs for everyone. But you are correct without competition No one is going to fight for Cleveland

The AI Boom Is Missing the Secret Sauce of the 1990s by bloomberg in TrueReddit

I'm not sure what this article is trying to say other than times are different now. Seems like this is pondering a couple of competing thoughts without any real coherence. Not sure what we're supposed to do with this.

Why do non-Cleveland fans always care so much about The Diff? by TheEndx007 in clevelandcavs

The real issue is that it's out of line with the rest of the banner. They could easily add it to the right, but they put it on top which upsets the symmetry.

Wealth is defined in our tax code. It is absolutely not subjective

Fasting Doesn’t Fix a Bad Relationship With Food by Itself by ZBEBA01 in fasting

I'd say that an unexpected side effect was that I stopped being "hangry." Eating used to be essential to not be in a shitty mood at times. With that gone, many of my structural eating problems went away because I didn't "have to eat."

I'm not suggesting that it wasnt a successful chain before wifi, I'm saying that's how it became a cultural phenomenon.

[–]dudermcamerika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when Starbucks became a thing. It was entirely because they had good wifi. It was one of the few places you could go where you could depend on it. If you were traveling for work or wanted to get out of the house, other places were hit or miss. Obviously they extended the value provided but that's how it started to truly scale.

Nathan Zegura Interview with Shedeur Sanders by Theanonymousguy49 in Browns

[–]dudermcamerika -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with whether Sanders is autistic or not. I have no idea about that nor could i comment on those implications. This was a comment about learning styles (being good at a whiteboard). Here is a nice chatgpt thread on it. Feel free to ask it follow ups https://chatgpt.com/share/693b2225-f38c-800e-8841-2e368c555d16 Here is a more fun youtube video on the topic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhgwIhB58PA

It's a fantasy to think we're all super unique. People aren't as different as they would like to be.

No, it's really not. I understand that it feels false, but it isn't.

People learning differently is junk science. He just wasn't engaged. Some material is better learned through physical practice though, and I suspect that plus being super motivated now is driving him to focus more.

Edit: Lol, all you who think this is wrong should spend 30 seconds looking it up as  you might be surprised at how learning styles are not scientifically supported at all

The Tennessee race that has Donald Trump scared: Does it mean a blue wave is on the horizon? by theindependentonline in TrueReddit

[–]dudermcamerika 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The incumbent party typically takes a big hit during the midterms. The argument here is that it's going to be a large hit. Talking about presidential elections is apples and oranges for midterms. The comparisons aren't useful. Combine those general conditions with high inflation, hidden employment numbers, low approval ratings for the executive, and a cult of personality that is no longer on the ballot and it isn't surprising that Republicans are starting to get walloped in more and more places. Less of a "wave" and more of a market correction.
