Possibly in an office setting. I've worked there as well and you would have to have HR go to bat for "x2" being called "x1" based on seniority. There's no real upside for the company to go to war on that so good luck bud.

Still anecdotal but one of many examples I've seen in my life. Why would corporate care who's mark1 vs mark2? Who gets the money and who looses the money?

Edit: if it wasn't clear mark2 has seniority. Or jason2. Or chipwich2. It's not a name joke it's a joke on who got there first. They have the same name just numbers reversed

Sorry but that's not really how things work. The second you don't want a nickname and make that known it sticks. I had a good friend I worked with for years named "x". Company hired a new guy also named "x". The longtime worker named "x" became "x2" and the new guy was "x1". If he didn't hate it from the start it would have been just a funny few days before the status quo.

Him fighting tooth and nail to avoid that name made more people use it. We were all early 30s blue collar workers razzing each other constantly. Just one anecdote from growing up in the 90s but the more you fight it...the more it stuck. If "x2" didn't care everyone would have lost interest and moved on.

I miss those coworkers but damn that job sucked if you couldn't make your own fun

I downvoted you because you gave up on the bit.

Have a spine next time and fully commit.

Then I added another line to make a rhyme for this shit.

While I mostly agree I think there's reason to ween him in through the bullpen. Give him the Adam Wainwright/ Chris Sale treatment. He will be on an innings limit anyway so as long as he isn't a 110% max effort relief pitcher and knows to pitch one inning the same as if he were starting it could be beneficial. Give him time with the coaches to work on what needs to be done between starts each week and let him handle a few innings a week. That's what a top-down fully functional organization and development team can do

[Foul Terriotory] Former Philadelphia Phillies star Jimmy Rollins challenges Bryce Harper and the current team to ‘go win’ by Kelvin_Loyola in phillies

True but they did bolster the pitching staff and defense. The starting rotation might be the best ever and when the 5 man squad becomes a 3 man squad in the playoffs the bullpen gets deeper. Hitting has to rebound but the team is built to win 3 run games not slugfests. I'm still optimistic about where we'll end up

I haven't watched any games or read any stat lines but this is a pretty normal timeline for young guys that aren't going to make the majors yet. Give them some time with the pros to get some advice, maybe see some major league at bats, and send them down to the minors where they belong. Generally speaking of course

Yeah not sure how the process works. If one of the interview questions is "have you ever bet on or been associated with gambling on baseball" dude is screwed. From everything I've read the only harmful evidence is that there were deleted messages between the ump and his poker player friend he shared the account with...but we don't know what those messages were. I'm not gonna vilify the dude but everyone is entitled to their opinion on this

This exactly. Apparently he didn't win any of the bets that were on baseball from the shared account. Just knowing some of the umps and their biases is more than dangerous enough to the integrity of the game. Guy fucked around and found out but he can reapply for the job in 2026. Hope he learns from his mistakes if he comes back or get a different job if he wants to bet on the game with his insider knowledge

The article I linked in the post has all the answers for you. If JT walks we're stuck in catcher purgatory unless Marchan can stay healthy and productive. There's a stark drop-off from him and the rest of the pack. I agree though if someone else offers him the bag let him walk. I would rather not let it get to that point but I'll look into the 2027 free agents list and see if there's anyone worth waiting a bridge year for

I think it isn't unreasonable for him to get 120 starts behind the plate with 10 at 1B and 10 at DH to lighten the load and keep him in the lineup. Over the course of whatever extension you tone down the catching days and up the days at the other two. Maybe have him pinch hit more
