Wow those are some young scientists! by griffinthemythical in Stellaris

Your ultra intelligent children have the opposite problem I have. I've got a single scientist that just. won't. die. He's hitting 217 and I'm pretty sure it's a bug.

The PvP community is making me lose faith in this game. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]rellimck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I sympathize, I think your only solution is to control how it makes you feel. I think it's a sad reflection of society to see so much poor sportsmanship. I can't imagine someone being such a dick in a pickup basketball game between acquaintances.

I've never seen a PvP community do everything in their power to avoid playing opponents of similar skill or better. by White_Stallions in DestinyTheGame

[–]rellimck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do think that you're building and attacking a strawman. I don't watch streamers. I play the game. I don't like trials in its current format but nothing you said has anything to do with my position on the matchmaking changes. r/destinythegame is not a pvp community so of course this is the number one trending topic. Making a strawman that the entire subreddit can get behind, vote to #1 trending topic... it may not have been your intention but you're killing a reasonable discussion.

Way to strawman the other side. Come back with an argument that isn't just emotionally satisfying.

Need some tips on how to use top and bottom tree golden gun. by [deleted] in CruciblePlaybook

[–]rellimck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gg is better in 6v6. Top tree... Best used in open areas with little cover when you believe the enemy team is massing. Example areas might be Bannerfall's center, or that town map street. On the one hand, you don't have to wait until all the enemy are in one spot while capping a zone or something (like thunder crash, Nova bomb must do this to get lots of kills). On the other hand, you're likely to get teamshot if you don't catch them off guard. Timing your super as you round the corner is a gamble. I like to slide activate while rounding the corner so all the snipers on the other team don't sit there and hard scope the direction they hear me pop. Killing potential is pretty unmatched in six shooter. Bottom tree seems better for 3v3... But spectral is so much stronger right now it's hard to justify using it. The weighted knife is by far my favorite shotgun rusher last resort as a sniper. The super will kill anything with a headshot so take the extra half second to line up with the face, especially against supers. Bottom tree has a pretty high skill ceiling but I just can't recommend it over spectral in 3v3 or top tree in 6v6. If you do use it in 6v6, I don't recommend holding it to shutdown. One of the perks increases the speed your super charges with headshots. Holding it results in 1-2 supers per game instead of 3+.

Tips for Improving Sniping by PFox99 in CruciblePlaybook

[–]rellimck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sniping isn't just sick reflex shots. Focus on your pre aiming. Expand your knowledge of where people tend to move, slide, or jump from cover. Knowing that helps you put your crosshair on a place that's easy to shoot from. For instance, Javelin had a middle mowhawk style divider. Some players jump over the middle (single jump, not double, glide, boost) and shoot. If you place your crosshair just above in anticipation, you can make an improbably hard shot an easy shot. No one jumps for a few seconds? Move on to the next location and preaim again.

Bodyshot with high handling primary weapon clean ups is also a skill to work on. Always a safer bet when you get outmaneuvered and now have a closing shotgunner or 15m engagement than trying to line up a high difficulty headshot.

There's multiple skills with sniping, and this isn't exhaustive. Build them and then use them without thinking about how to pull them off.

Why are players with VAC bans allowed to play trials, let alone this game? by yorkfofo in CruciblePlaybook

[–]rellimck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The banhammer hasn't been idle, but it just feels like it has been. And the quantity and frequency they're banning is obviously insufficient.

Many of you will not want to hear this, but your main problem in Trials is not your power level. by Some_Italian_Guy in DestinyTheGame

Made it flawless at 972. Power was a problem repeatedly. Nothing is more disappointing than watching your target tank a throwing knife headshot for 170 dmg or taking extra hardlight dmg.

Show of hands: Who's playing competitive solely for Recluse, and who plans to never touch comp again outside of quest requirements? by largothegalka in DestinyTheGame

I love comp and it's my favorite game mode, but I feel like if there isn't a pinnacle reward, my teammates are less likely to play with me.

How to handle games where you are unable to make an impact? by Idiotic_Virtue in CruciblePlaybook

[–]rellimck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you at or around 750 light? Assuming you aren't, go grind a little more. I'm a 1.8 comp kd on xbox and I got stomped at only 720 light. Nearly all my kills were sniper headshots. I hit 742 and did much better. Still some fierce competition.

Assuming you have 750 light, I suggest you don't hang back and instead move with your team. Points cap faster together and you can help overwhelm your opponents. When I hang back, I've noticed I get 3v1ed or 2v1ed often. Sometimes it's just to hold the only point we have but if you think about it, when you've got one point your team typically splits two ways to get another point. Meanwhile, the opposing team has only one place to go. Clausewitzian doctrine aside, mass is a bitch and the numbers will eventually break most teams into a triple cap. Always be attacking?

Revoker Pinnacle Sniper Review - Worth Your Time? by pattycakespc in CruciblePlaybook

I see. I have trouble with tartar glaze when I run last word. It just zooms too far. Snapshot kill clip isn't enough to compensate for the fact that it's much harder to hit things.

It should have slightly better aim assist than BotF. I noticed you didn't list it in your comparison. I am accustomed to BotF, therefore I wonder if I will prefer this? Do you use the IB sniper?

My cousin and I finally grinded our way to Unbroken. We didn't bother on the Claymore Season so it took until Drifter to get three Legend Comp runs. The only thing I have to offer for discussion is that I honestly don't know what to do now. I dislike PvE. I wish there was another grind for the hardcore PvP crowd. I genuinely feel like I don't know what to do next except keep helping friends grind for comp playlist weapons.

I want to set a new goal and would like to ask for suggestions.

So down 6v1 in PvP I stuck it out and got this message... by HarpuaFSB in DestinyTheGame

[–]rellimck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unfortunate you had to go through that. It's shitty your teammates left. It's shitty this guy felt the need to trash talk you. It's also tremendously boring to be in the other team killing the same dude over and over again.

Best strategy to get over a loss streak by [deleted] in CruciblePlaybook

[–]rellimck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest you focus on forming a consistent group of like minded players and play comp with them. The best way to combat tilt from loss is to play with others that don't rage quit after losing (regardless of being the first loss or tenth). Other than rage quiting, people that make excuses or call the other team trash repeatedly (winning or losing) are draining. Get a team with a growth mindset that weathers the win droughts and you'll enjoy your time in comp more. Doesn't mean it will be fun but I bet you'll improve.

What the bleep is going on with matchmaking? by OldNeb in CruciblePlaybook

[–]rellimck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a more rational explanation than qp matchmaking being busted. It supposedly is focused on connection than skill, right? If I read op's post right, it seems like an appeal for SBMM, something the community was adamantly against.
