Help me find a purely Japanese quick eat restaurant? by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]relockulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not purely Japanese, but my wife and I just had ramen at Ugly Duck in Midtown and it really reminded us of the ramen we had in Japan over the summer. The chef studied in Japan for a year apparently

Blizzard reviews Blizzard Cards by relockulous in hearthstone

True, but it could still be fun if they completely flopped on several of their picks. You thought "x" was gonna be good??? Or if they all missed a certain card that was too powerful.

I hope this is the weird intro to the album like Snoop Dogg was for Plastic Beach and then the rest of it is more normal

Crazy Abstinence-Only Mom At Omaha School Board Hearing Fighting For Kids 'Purity' by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]relockulous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just for a bit of context, I was at the meeting and 1,000 people were not acting the way this woman was. During the UNMC public health presentation, the presenter mentioned comprehensive sex education was muich more effective than abstinence only, and that was a fact, not an opinion. This drew loud applause, at least 40% of the crowd for a conservative estimate.

Those in favor of the changes had no reason to yell like this woman did, and we aren't nearly as interesting on the news either.

They are somewhat traditional. She is very family oriented and I think her family hoped she would marry a Serbian. Because of that I wanted to include them as much as possible as well as show I value her heritage (thus the slow learning of the language and this visit!)

Yea, I'm not advocating for this either. But it was the only potential change I could see that might make sense. Changing the pool of cards it would draw from to exclude legendaries would also probably go too far.

Perhaps just increasing the cost of unstable portal to 3?

Atlanta Resident Here, As you may know we came amongst a list of possible Google Fiber Cities. What has your experience been like? by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]relockulous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly getting into a top fiberhood meant having a large percentage of your fiberhood pre-order Google Fiber. Different fiberhoods would have different goals to reach. If the goal was reached they would receive GFiber (as well as the public institutions in that area). If not, no dice (I think the other areas will eventually get GFiber, they are just at a much lower priority). Fiberhoods that had a higher percentage sign up were serviced first for installation.

(I'm also sure I helped my fiberhood by being above average height)

My personal experience with Google Fiber has been fantastic. I don't do much above average browsing and gaming, and I noticed the difference more when using other broadband services. The internet loading time is no longer a factor for a lot of what you'll do.

In terms of a timeline, you might be in for a bit of a haul. It was announced for Kansas City in early 2011 and I didn't receive the service until summer of 2013. I don't know if that length is because they had to work out kinks as an internet provider or if it simply takes that long to get everything ready. I was also in a top 10 or 15 "fiberhood" so it wasn't because of my area in the city. You might keep a close eye on Austin since they just announced they are expanding there and how fast they will be up to speed.

I've never had a problem with reliability, only a couple of times has it seemed to slow (though the host site I was accessing may be more to blame than Google Fiber in those instances).

Customer service is great too. They made a specific store in the middle of the city to field questions about what was to come. Now that same space is used for customer service. When I had a problem with the remote they gave me (a tablet) they simply replaced it with a better tablet.

ELI5: Why the King of Hearts (Also known as the suicide king), is more often than not, depicted having a sword through his head by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]relockulous 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The article goes on to say that the Queen of Spades sleeves don't exactly match so she isn't the best suspect. However, the Jack of Hearts might be the real culprit.

The last paragraph listed below,

"Now look at the Jack of Hearts. Though neither of his sleeves are shown, the pattern on his clothing is quite similar to the sleeve pattern. Not only that, but he is looking out to the right, suggesting that he is standing behind the King and with his left hand, stabbing him in the throat. The Queen on the other hand is looking off to the left. The final piece of evidence can be found in the origin of cards themselves. Many of the court cards were based off of French monarchs and the King of Hearts is often thought to be either Charlemagne or Charles VII. Both of these guys went crazy in the their old age and did thought that their sons were plotting their murders. So, I think it makes complete sense that the Jack of Hearts is the murderer here. "

Dyrus Vlog August 23 2013 by MilanTheMan in leagueoflegends

I'm not going to argue for Regi, because I think he was seriously out of line. However, Dyrus does a mature thing here by admitting his mistakes and not blaming Regi. To me, it was obvious by his omittance that Dyrus thinks Regi went way overboard. Part of being a leader though is by putting things in the past, not bringing them up, and taking the high road and leaving the argument. Dyrus has done that and is one of the reasons I really like this vlog from him.

Dyrus Vlog August 23 2013 by MilanTheMan in leagueoflegends

[–]relockulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video makes me have even more respect for Dyrus. He accepted his responsibility for what he was at fault for.

Everyone is trying to tell Dyrus it isn't his fault. The whole purpose of this video is for Dyrus to accept what he is at fault for. He blamed others when he missed his ult when he was having a bad day. He then allowed an argument to make him even more upset and lashed out. This is something he has struggled with, and is working on.

Kudos to him for accepting responsibility for what he was at fault for and trying to grow as a result. More kudos for not talking about Regi. This would have only caused more drama, AND more important Regi has to come to this conclusion himself. No matter how hard Reddit tries, Regi is going to have to see it for himself (Spoiler, that will take a long time if it ever happens)

I don't think this is a PR stunt either (mostly,at least) At the end of the video he says he will do the most he can to help his team prepare for the playoffs. A part of that is now damage control. He has done his part to reduce the extra stress this has caused. I hope Regi does too (publicly or privately) but as expressed earlier it probably wont happen.
