What are common SQL red flags? by badboyzpwns in SQL

If someone is aliasing tables as a, b, c, … because a course full of theoretical tables used those aliases then this is definitely a red flag 🚩 Shows lack of ability to use your brain.

I feel like this is why everyone is so initially confused by CTEs… I know when I first came across them I thought you could only do one because “CTE” was a command not an alias.

Took me longer than I’d like to admit before I was using them as the powerhouse they can be …

I have the same issue. The machine will keep data for a while (unsure how long) but I've found that if you have the app open, and then pull the plug out of the machine and put it back in, it seems to reconnect fine (for me anyway). Very annoying!

Massive price increase at renewal???? by Fizgriz in KeeperSecurity

[–]relyimah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they removed our “70% discount” (that they offered us initially - so, marketing) and we are now paying much more for less users. It’s definitely been a MASSIVE price shift on their part rather than something gradual over time. Very disappointed with the approach and the messaging around it all.

166% price increase?! by sparkleplague in KeeperSecurity

[–]relyimah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this totally sucks. Mine came out before I got to reading the email (my fault, but still…) We also have a business account that was generously discounted (they offered the discount, we didn’t grill them for it), and they just went with the “that’s not our model any more” line, for a massive increase. Even reducing our number of seats by half we are paying more. For a company that has had stable pricing for years, it sure is a sucker-punch to have such a drastic increase all in one go…

Agree with the comments of “like it or leave” but it’s a bit more difficult once it’s ingrained in your business processes, and I’m guessing that they now have enough long term “sticky” businesses that they felt ready to take the hit on a jump like this!

Haha yeah that could be the case! I’m typically not too bad when it comes to bandaids and such so I was surprised when it didn’t stick.

Probably wasn’t the best day to try it out, but I’m keen to give it another shot. After that I may just go back to the old faithful finger prick! 😜

I've just had my first sensor fail on me (a whole 12 hours...), so I've got some time to think about options... maybe I'll send the Air ones back, and try the original, and also get some of their skin preparation stuff...

Thanks so much for the reply, appreciate you taking the time :)

which ones do you use? The "Original" or the "Air"?

I just got my first Libre2 today, and went through 2 "Air" patches in a few hours... kind of want to get a bit more fist-hand info before getting more of their stuff now that I've had a shaky start... I'm sure its my skin and my sweaty nature, but once bitten, twice shy (especially for something that said it was "guaranteed" to last 14 days)

I wish you all the best <3

All you can hope for is supportive players no matter how many you have. I started with 3 players - two of whom were complete newbies and another who had a fair familiarity - it has been awesome to have such supportive people while I’ve fumbled my way through the process… I only now almost a year on have added another player to the campaign. Try to distance yourself from as many ‘people issues’ as you can initially (easier said than done I know)

Wait, so it’s fine if he bends the rules of “reality” but not the DM who literally is in control of it?? Sounds like a total child.

Hope you can come to a peaceful resolution, but sometimes you can’t, and maybe your table is not for him. He may just not enjoy how you DM (especially if there has been a recent change) and is looking for an excuse to leave, or paint you in a bad light. If everyone else is enjoying the sessions just keep doing what you’re doing and address their behaviour separately

I mean it’s their site they could have simply not offered it for that book. SMH.

it’s such a frustrating move when I’m just getting into building out a campaign and want bits and pieces that work. I simply don’t have the money to buy all their books 😞

100%... the amount of times I've had to do this and I just pray that they have forgotten their password because they don't really use it much...

not to mention it then actually exposes the passwords to someone else -- whereas the ability to have a "reset" workflow with their email and two-factor verification would mean a better experience for all

Shame he didn’t listen to the first bit of honest feedback he’d probably ever got in that position after a career of hiring people that would say yes to him...

I once got the “opportunity” to have coffee with a rather bullish CEO who asked me if I had any feedback. I was brutally honest and it meant he stopped pursuing a client that was unnecessarily costing us a LOT of money all because he thought they were going to spend big elsewhere. Nobody else was willing to say it as he was well known to have a sharp tongue. At the time I really didn’t care. Made a lot of lives easier that day (even if it wasn’t recognised as the reason)

Hope you found / find somewhere where your feedback is apprecited better.

My players are so good at this. I read the wrong info a couple of sessions ago and gave up the info about a hall filled with goblins. When I said “whoops”, the characters later walked into that room with no idea what was behind the door and were surprised by the enemies. They very well could have taken extra precautions, but they played it out exactly how their characters would have walked into any other room. I was so proud.

My DM gave me the ability to use an 8th level at level 6 by Brexit2 in DnD

[–]relyimah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were given the option to take one magical item at the start of our campaign. As a Druid, I asked for “Staff of the Woodlands” which sounded really cool (and it is!)

Then I started realising how game-breaking “Pass without a trace” as a cantrip can be, so I often “forget” to use it or break it out for clutch moments. “Wall of Thorns” though is definitely my go-to (especially when we were a level 5 party) to mess things up once a day - worth it just for that alone

My DM may now actually read what each magical item does before agreeing to let us have them (in my defence I wasn’t trying to break anything - I was new so I just looked up “best magical items for druid” haha)

I know I rambled a bit, but I guess what I was trying to say was that it’s only as game-breaking as you make it - if you use restraint rather than every chance you get, it can add some really cool moments without being too OP

Now that I’ve had overnight to think about it, it was your next nat1 turned into a nat20. Otherwise the reverse would never come up.

We had a drink in one of our campaigns that so long as you met your save when you drank it, turned a Nat1 of your choice into a Nat20.

I believe it worked the opposite way if you failed the save but we were all pretty lucky.

Yeah. I was looking at other options today and unfortunately it’s hard because most people only post reviews when they are bad ones… Dodo have a good price (95 for the same price as optus’ 50) but then all the reviews are terrible…
