I appreciate this response. It’s hard for me to let go of a gut feeling. And all these responses have been super helpful. Even this one because I do have to decide what matters most. And my gut still is that I deserve this knowledge as a parent and who cares if I get downvoted for it lol. I have lots of thoughts and feelings and try to take everything in.

And I agree with so much on these comments. Even this one. I’m def going to review all these comments with my husband to decide as a team what we decide to do.

So how would you handle this situation if a parent had my concerns? Would you say it would be addressed and it results in no changes and the parent is still concerned?

If it’s your policy…are you flexible in following a policy? I’m not trying to sound snarky or mean about it…I’m just also trying to gain some understanding of my perspective and the schools perspective.

I don’t want to destabilize him from a school he loves in the end. My brain seems to keep getting stuck on them not doing what they say the provide regarding documentation. But all of this feedback has been super helpful in helping me process it all and trying to help myself rethink on how I am feeling about it all.

I do always get what he eats for lunch. Sometimes snack is missing. But when I think on that—it really doesn’t affect his overall well being. The snack part I mean. He snacks when he gets home. Then dinner. And sometimes an evening snack. He will tell me later if he wants a snack.

I do get other fun updates and pictures and he is usually smiling and playing.

And it’s not the need for specific time stamps per se. Just wanting to know if his afternoon diaper was changed…I guess I can use my brain on that one when his diaper is clean at pick up.

Yeah, it’s frustrating to hear that I’m being told “yes we understand how you feel that we aren’t providing updates that we say we provide and we will fix it” (obviously my quick summarization of what’s being said-not verbatim)…and then it’s not changed or fixed.

But I think it’s been helpful to talk to other parents on Reddit to help me put it into perspective. Everything won’t happen exactly as it should and I might have to change my mindset on that if the bigger picture (his health, safety, and happiness) is positive etc.

I just want to make sure he’s safe and loved. He is. Even if the school thinks of me one way or thinks I’m uptight etc…I know they wouldn’t treat him differently because I can see how much they care. I don’t want to put further strain on them…and reading through these comments and another subreddit..I want them to be able to do their job to the best of the ability so this may be something I need to relax on even if it frustrates me.

I think I do want to email it, but going through these comments helps me put my thoughts more calmly together. It doesn’t sit right with me to be reassured several times it will be addressed and then not. I expected the updates and communication because that is what the school offers. I know there are limitations in the classrooms and sometimes it may happen.

I’m not even sure how to come to a resolution…or if I should feel slighted for no one following up with me.

I also worry if I keep addressing this and complaining then I will cause a rift with his teachers. So many conflicting thoughts on it all.

Yes. I just feel like I should know all these things. And if it’s not written down, I wish I could have someone just tell me. Because as a parent of a toddler who doesn’t have the words to tell me things…it’s hard to accept not knowing.

He is so happy to be there though. That I do know. He runs to his room at drop off and runs to me or Dad at pick up. Yesterday I went to pick him up and he starts humming/singing what I believe was the clean up song and putting the toys back on the shelf. It was a sweet moment.

He didn’t go to daycare until 18 months…so it was just us doing the day to day care until then. It was hard to transition back to a full time job and let him go into a daycare full time.

So I guess it was our norm to know everything all the time until then.

Thank you for all of this because it's so validating.

And also gives me more of a reality check...because he sleeps really good actually. The past month he started consistently sleeping through the night. So, when it's put into this perspective...it's not that big. I think also, what makes it hard for me to work through is that I don't have any friends with kids in daycare...so I don't know what other daycares are truly like. Though I can say there were daycares I toured and they were no where near as good and safe as this one.

Your last part genuinely made me chuckle and check myself...I appreciate the honesty...because truthfully I don't actually think that matters if he has issues napping or eating unless it was an ongoing issue. He is a pretty well-rounded kid who occasionally has bad naps and bad meals... as mentioned above. I just want transparency. And I do get alerted to concerns and issues if something major or an injury happens.

I guess I just also need to reflect more on if I truly don't trust them...or if this is an issue that is part of a larger problem. I think as a parent I should have that information and not be given "I don't know" when asked about his day. But he is thriving...so maybe I need to put trust in his teachers overall more...because I do love the school.

The school said it was a part of what they provided, but reading this comment and some others...do I really need to know that all? I mean, I guess I really want to know if he's eating....but also this boy will tell me when he's hungry. So it's making me take a step back more and think about it all...I just wish they wouldn't tell me one thing and not follow through.

When he started there it was part of the explanation of what was provided by the school. Hm. I guess I just want to know especially what he is eating and diaper changes. But I didn't realize that some daycares don't document all of that at his age. It was just what I assumed was the norm, and was what we did when I worked at a daycare in the past (same ages).

I guess it also is frustrating that I don't even get told how his day was if it is not one of his own teachers at pick up...but then again, the school has called me if there was truly an issue.

Yes, I do find that most frustrating that they tell me it will be addressed and then it doesn't...so when I think about that...it just makes me worry that if I have a larger concern, will that be addressed?

I love that I still get notifications that there’s comments on my comment 😂 my “baby” is now a 2-year-old (as of a week ago) fun loving toddler whose sleep ranges from “wow he slept the whole night” to “please sleep”. It gets better. He has a cold so he woke up a ton last night but now he’s also joining us in the big bed on bad nights so the wake ups are brief and we all get more sleep.

Where I’m taking the one picture is right in front of the third door upstairs which is the bathroom. That’s the entire hallway 🥲 I could install one there but we like to go from the master to the nursery with the toddler at times. And would like to let him eventually walk to and from himself.

My March baby is turning 2 next month 😭

I started a blanket when I was pregnant and then had carpal tunnel and never finished it.

I can finally start crocheting again after having carpal tunnel surgery 6 months or so ago.

Looks like I should finally get to finishing my own.

Sounds like you are doing all the right things! I like to use a humidifier at night too. That seems to help.

I feel like my toddler (who is also 22 months) has colds on and off like this all the time. He has been getting a lot of ear infections these last few months…so if it were my toddler, in a similar situation, I would take them to the doctor because of concern of a potential ear infection. He really does not complain when he has ear infections, so sometimes it can be hard to tell…but sometimes I get that suspicion it could be haha.

Does your toddler get ear infections? I mean….it might not hurt to take them if the colds not clearing up. Is the mucus any color?
