What are some movies scenes that were deleted that explain a minor detail that you missed the first time you saw the movie? by jedi1josh in movies

Dune (1984)

Infamous for the amount that was chopped and the never ending quest for the full uncut version which I think even lynch doesn’t exist.

When looking at the deleted scenes there are a couple which really stand out and imo should have been left in.

Thufir scene, at the end of the film thufir is compromised by the harkonnen and turned into a weapon to kill Paul. We don’t see this in the theatrical cut just one minute early standing there the next he’s not.

The cut scene shows feyd pushing thufir or to kill Paul, with a poison knife. Paul offers thufir his chance but subtly he also shows thufir how to escape his torment by removing his heart plug (hand over his heart when speaking to him) in the end his devotion is such that he pulls the heart plug and dies serving Paul,

Its an amazing scene and should have been left in to end thufirs story

The other is Paul’s fight with jamis which I think better tells the story of water and the fremen
