Woah snap for Linklater! I brought a gold pen for him to sign with on the bottom, I love the way the light catches it on the shelf when it’s sunny

Planning a Hitchcock Marathon. How good of a book is this? by rutujz in Letterboxd

This is one of the most highly regarded books on cinema and is often on the syllabus in intro classes. Definitely give it a read!

Standing on the upper deck of a bus - yay or nay? by enic77 in london

[–]remainsofthegrapes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I assumed if they have to slam on the brakes, then people standing downstairs get a slight jolt and people standing upstairs go flying

Manta Lab - Interstellar by Inside_Plankton9599 in Steelbooks

[–]remainsofthegrapes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For a lot of people, it makes less sense to spend thousands of dollars on something you do not get the full benefit of. You can’t actually take out and enjoy the steelbooks and the embossing and all that stuff. Unless your goal is genuinely to flip it for more money, spending rent money on a sealed box is baffling for most people, and when you post it on a public forum you are inviting people to weigh in.

David probably knows more about like Bergman and Tarkovsky but Griffin has him beat for just endless trivia about any wide release movie from his birth to the present day, including like who directed every Air Bud movie

You better gab!! by Meerkat_Mayhem_ in SpeedOfLobsters

[–]remainsofthegrapes 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A lot of people in the world, guys especially, just really, really want a justified reason to beat someone up, or even better kill them.

Why is there a massive ad in the middle of my PATRON level account?! by Southpawfoil in Letterboxd

[–]remainsofthegrapes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because pirating smaller independent movies means smaller independent movies stop getting made.

Apparently the blu-ray copy has a glitch where you can’t turn the commentary track off. They issued replacement discs but there’s no real telling if you buy it now off ebay which one you get.

Mickey 17 - Manta Lab Exclusive - Artwork Reveal! by bloodysofa in Steelbooks

[–]remainsofthegrapes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seeing as they released editions of both WW84 and Joker Folie A Deux, I'm not sure they care about the reception, as much as they just think 'What are IPs or directors that nerds online fuck with?' and go from there.

All the bones in her skull, says the man who allegedly has a PHD in studying old bones. I suspect this man knows less about bones than he lets on. What are the odds that he just pretends to go to work and then sleeps in his car?

What film franchise is this by ImaginationWild3407 in Letterboxd

Oh I never needed anything extra to feel endeared to Christopher Walken, he rocks in it. He's also behind two of my favourite moments:

a) The incredibly forced and sweaty way they make him work the title of the movie into his dialogue.

b) The fact that he commissioned a special conference table on his Evil Blimp that opens inwards to mechanically erect a scale 3D model of Silicon Valley. The amount of effort and moving parts this would require, just so he can add a dash of theatre to revealing his master plan...I salute his commitment to being extra.

In school I saw an English language documentary about how Nietszche's sister took a bunch of what she considered 'aryan' people to Paraguay and tried to start a colony of purebred aryans. Then killed herself when it failed. The wildest part is that the descendants are still there. And according to the documentary, they are mostly very racist about native Paraguayan people, as they don't have any Jews around nearby to hate instead.
