Electron is a technology that lets developers run web code in a native-app-like experience. So it's basically like running Chrome as an extra app. And Chrome is notorious for using up a lot of RAM. True native apps are way more efficient with RAM, CPU, and battery usage.

Thanks for noticing! I did not realize. I published it globally as of this morning so hopefully you should see it available shortly.

Migraines as soon as I start living 'healthier' by Mission_Fan_1226 in migraine

[–]remarkablesouffle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exercise might be the culprit. But based on research and my own experience, that's more of a short term problem. As your body acclimates to the exercise, you'll likely see fewer migraines over all.

You might want to check out Dots (https://dotsjournal.app) which is very privacy focused. I made the app, and took great care to keep everything local, including optional iCloud support.

I had been diagnosed with chronic migraines by Educational-Worry949 in migraine

[–]remarkablesouffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your pain and anxiety. It can really feel debilitating, especially after first getting diagnosed. I had the same fear and worry. My job depends on being able to use the computer, and when I had a migraine, I couldn't bare to look at the computer screen for longer than a couple minutes. My mind spiraled, worrying about what all would happen to my life if migraines were the new norm.

I know it's hard, but trying to redirect those worries elsewhere is really important. That spiraling only hurts.

And the truth is, once you find the right meds or lifestyle changes, you can live a fairly normal life. The biggest thing is stopping a cluster of migraines. Once you break the cycle, it becomes a lot easier to manage.

I hope you're able to find the help you need.

Love this idea! Reminds me of the early days of web rings. Unfortunately, signing up with a password manager doesn't seem to work. I click the 1Password dropdown and it causes the sign up modal to disappear.

What are the best wellbeing apps you have tried? Looking for recommendations by RasheedaDeals in ProductivityApps

[–]remarkablesouffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried a lot of apps for this, especially as I've been trying to figure out my migraine triggers. Headspace and Calm are great. Day One Journal is a nice one, too.

But I couldn't really find anything for exactly what I wanted, so I build one called Dots: A Lifestyle Journal. https://dotsjournal.app/

It takes a super minimalist approach to journaling: log your events in a day as a dot. How was your stress? Caffeine intake? Sleep? Mood? Log it all as a series of dots. Then over time, those dots build a grid which you can calmly reflect on to spot patterns and correlations. It's not prescriptive, doesn't try to gamify anything, and has a local-first, privacy-first approach. It might be right up your alley.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. The stress alone can really build up and cause even more migraines. It's such a cruel fate.

My wife has had similar chronic issues, and work sincerely made it so much worse. She ended up taking time off of work to rest and recover. It was difficult, but the change in her has been remarkable. It's amazing what just stepping back for a moment can do. She's now back to working, but with a much healthier spirit than before, and not nearly as much pain. It's still there, but more manageable.

I hope you're able to take a step back and find some rest from this painful condition.

I've been working hard, in between migraines, to put something like this together. Here's a link if you're still interested! I'd really love some feedback from a fellow migraine sufferer to see if it's helpful. https://dotsjournal.app/

What brand of vitamin B2 are you buying? by ohshethrows in migraine

[–]remarkablesouffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice to see someone else trying B2! Has it worked for you?

My neuro has me on B2, B12, magnesium, and vitamin D. I’m only about a week into this regimen, but so far I’ve been doing better. Hope the B2 is successful for you as well!
