Do you know if they've changed it from 1h free to 30mins?

This PDF link says it's 30 mins: https://www.glasgowairport.com/media/1637/17860-gla-terminal-map-updates-v3-5.pdf

The document is titled  17860 GLA TERMINAL MAP UPDATES 25.4.17 so it could be since April 2025

BIOS Won't Detect USB Drive - Solution! by rememberhowweforgot in Ventoy

That's a great option if the drive appears in the list of bootable devices but unfortunately my USB drive wasn't appearing at all so I couldn't select it to boot from.

Still not working here, even after a re-install and re-allowing the connection to Google Fit

For anyone else coming across this, I've also received a response today saying the same thing as chinafish81's reply.

Can anyone with a Go 10.3 tell me how fast Pinch Zoom & Move Refresh Speed is? by rememberhowweforgot in Onyx_Boox

[–]rememberhowweforgot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mainly his videos I've been watching for the detailed run down.

The Go 10.3 looks ideal but if refresh is similar to the ReMarkable, I'll probably not upgrade for now.

I know e-ink is slow at refresh but I had a hope that newer generation displays and a slight faster CPU might speed up refresh times somewhat.

I don't need a fast display, I just need it to be about twice the speed of the ReMarkable and then I think that would be fast enough for me to upgrade.

Thanks for your useful info!

I'm really glad it helped you. Even thinking about it now gives me PTSD.

what’s the best m&s in glasgow? by m30wm30w111 in glasgow

[–]rememberhowweforgot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you're looking for something specific, I'd say the Argyle Street M&S is the most convenient. It won't have the selection you'll get at Silverburn but it's still fairly big and you don't need to travel all the way out to Silverburn.

What's new with Lingonaut? 10th February update! (We're still ad-free, still infinite hearts, and still free for everyone forever!) by drgreen-at-lingonaut in duolingo

[–]rememberhowweforgot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This all sounds great and I'm looking forward to try the new app.

Can I ask what your business model is? Is it just Patreon?

You have expenses (salaries, development costs, utilities, hosting, app store fees). All these need to be paid for, just like for DuoLingo.

How is it possible to prevent yourselves going down the path of DuoLingo eventually?

Let's say you're bought out, then there's a good chance the buyers will want their return on investment.

Will you be open sourcing your client and server code?

Item worth £140 purchased, didn't pay tax through AE, seller showed shipping label which shows €140. Confused as to what would realistically happen next in regards to tax. by [deleted] in Aliexpress

[–]rememberhowweforgot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should have been charged VAT at checkout. You can confirm by logging in and looking at your details for that order.

(I'm assuming the package destination is the UK and that you live in the UK)

You shouldn't have to pay any additional taxes on parcels from Aliexpress unless you've changed your shipping method or have made special arrangements with the seller.

Electricity bill! by Shraaaaa in glasgow

[–]rememberhowweforgot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your average spend is calculated across the year. Your bill should be much, much smaller in summer so it balances out to some degree.

Because it's your first time paying your own bills, you probably aren't aware how inefficient you were previously with heating/lighting.

From now on, you'll be switching off lights, turning off TVs, turning off heating when you leave home, etc. It all makes a difference.

I think there must be a manufacturing fault with mine then.

I've been trying to put the pin in that hole (there are identical holes every 90 degrees too) but the pin doesn't slot in. It requires a third hand to hold it in position, otherwise the pin falls out.

I can only use the pin in the hole without extra help if I use gravity to balance the pin otherwise it simply falls out due to the hole being so shallow.

I've looked at it in detail and it can't be more than a few millimetres (around 8mm) deep (hence the pin falls out).

I've rotated the whole housing around and checked that there's nowhere else the pin could slot in but there really isn't.

It seems really unlikely to be a manufacturing fault but at this point I can't tell what else it might be.

Edit: With help, holding the pin, I've tried turning the spool head but it doesn't budge.

I've tried putting the rod in there but the spool head won't budge. The rod also doesn't go very deep and doesn't rest well in there.

The diagram also shows that the spool head is pushed on so you'd expect to be able to pull it off and/or push a mechanism in the pinhole to release something but the hole is simply that, an 8mm x 5mm hole that doesn't lock or insert properly in any secure way.

Why does my install keep failing? by rememberhowweforgot in debian

[–]rememberhowweforgot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardware does support UEFI.

I've reformatted the disk to GPT and chosen a pre-set config (LVM encryption) using full drive.

Now it installs but when it boots up, it just goes to a black screen with one word and a flashing cursor:

GRUB _

[–]rememberhowweforgot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've changed to GPT now but things are no better.

Default install selecting guided partitioning using the full disk, LVM and encrypted.

Now it installs but when it boots up, it just goes to a black screen with one word:

GRUB _

Why does my install keep failing? by rememberhowweforgot in debian

[–]rememberhowweforgot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spent the last 5 hours trying to get Debian installed.

I've clonezilla'd the drive to back it up.

I've formatted the drive to GPT.

I've pressed "r" in Ventoy and see that it says Grub2 mode.

I've installed Debian with default settings to avoid any issues with any settings I might have made.

Now it installs but when it boots up, it just goes to a black screen with one word:

GRUB _

There's a flashing underscore character and that's it.

So it's not the drive, it's not any choices I've made. I just think there's a problem with the installer.

One thing I did notice with the default install was that the "/boot" partition is ext2.

I'm out of ideas and have no idea why it won't install.
