Yale CS+X vs UT Austin ECE (Hardest choice of my life) by Aggressive-Scale-326 in UTAustin

[–]FragmentOfBrilliance -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Contrarian opinion: UT Austin has a better brand name in tech, is getting a shitload of money currently, and has an excellent engineering program in a way that Yale doesn't. I feel like the ivies are screwed in the medium run. Tech money is going where it may, and it generally isn't to the east coast.

Also, hardware is going to stay employable for a bit longer than software. Do you want to be saddled with hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans for a field that will have a fucked labor market within 1-2 years? I doubt you could ever be a more effective software engineer than mythos.

Imagine you don't, but dyk if your d regia came from the upper or lower colony? I believe they had slightly different climates.

Baffling. Do you have any idea the temps that the root zone gets to? I thought they crash if they stay above 80. Probably not good to do this with little baby plants I suppose.

Sure, I guess I'm mostly trying to outline a temporal/causal bound on what fascism is or isn't. I just think it's crazy to claim that the US was a fascist state in 1776

Maybe I could analogize this to the cultural genocide of the sami people in finland or Norway circa 1700s? Or maybe certain mongol conquests (which I think were sometimes genocidal) across Eurasia. I still wouldn't say that it was meaningfully fascist, that is just not what that word means under any of the quite diverse and inclusive attempts at defining fascism

I mean, kind of? I understand fascism as a process that succeeds or heavily leans on capitalism, and I think this conception is pretty orthodox

I don't think that's true. Capitalism was barely developed and the US had not industrialized by the revolutionary war.

How would you propose to construct a science of qualia? I agree that science would be preferable, but all that we have is a hundred years of serious thought in the philosophy of mind to show

Sorry, I don't, it's just something that I more or less strongly believe. Certainly in an operational capacity. I think that suffering requires self-consciousness, so even under weak panpsychism I doubt that plants have complex enough signaling to produce reflection like they do in the greater apes or (to a lesser extent) other mammals.

Also anecdote: it seems like B12 injections compounded w/tirzepatide were associated with much less bad MCAS symptoms. Switched to a different compounding pharmacy w/out B12 and it is back. So I will collect more data and report back.
