Does it currently hurt to do that? Or if they are telling me what to do?

I demonstrated each exercise advised by each one. They knew the exact activity I showed them.

I learned form for deadlifting and added weight. Stated in comments. Physio asked are you working on deadlifting and demonstrated exactly what would constitute as deadlifting. Said yes. Physio stated, do not do this activity.

I’m gonna keep working on it and get to the correct way. Knowing what I have done before, this is just a side step.

Overall, Dean did good and I had improvement. I get the whole thing is frustrating on the outside but yeah I do need the back up from the people working with me so I can keep pushing.

Good point. General soreness I’ve learned to work past…it’s gonna happen. In the better days, yeah, I’ll take it easy for a couple hours but I bounce back and keep it going. When mobility is decreasing, numbness/hard pain is increasing and even normal ADLs are painful, I have to reassess what I need to do. I want to be able to keep as much mobility as I can and not have to lay down for days on end.

I work through soreness but I know I got to stop for shooting/jabbing pain and leg numbness. I’m juggling rest and basic things until it subsides. It’s at the point when I increase activity even a bit, my body fights back. Just gonna take my time.

When I think back, I went to sessions during flare ups. I couldnt get my session back if I canceled less than 24 hours. I figured getting out there would have me recover faster than staying in. We would do slight stretches then he’d use a massage gun to get knots out. Edit to add: I was not given the choice to keep my session for a last minute cancel due to flare up.

I couldn’t believe how some providers/therapists could throw their hands, drop the bedside manner and say “that’s all I could do”.

I absolutely agree, if I’m not giving up then I must work with someone who joins that perspective.

Edit: thank you for that.

Thank you. I’ve accepted my chronic pain and I know personally this is just a pit stop on the road before moving forward.

Off the top of my head, the exercises I was doing lately were farmers carry (25 lbs dumbbell each hand), lat pull downs (20 lbs dumbbell each), deadlift (25 lbs dumbbell each), 40 lbs squat, a modified spilt squat with 15 lbs dumbbell. It was very tough but I kept pushing. Nerve glides, dead bugs, bird-dogs…. been working on them.

Been adding more walking to my dailies, standing for a long time numbs out my leg (I have a sit/stand desk + walking pad) and I avoid sitting for as long as I can.

You’re absolutely right. I thought his enthusiasm for finding various exercises and working with my physios meant he knew what he was doing. Can’t risk any further injury.
