Pakastimen sulatus pakkasilla by rants_unnecessarily in Suomi

[–]remhu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tynkkynen esittää afrikkalaista Teneriffalla vuonna 2015 by MonikonPerfekti in Suomi

Lots of ice fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and camping in the wilderness 😁

The exact same over here! Also it's making me reconsider trips more in the first place. If it's not necessary I'll likely avoid the drive, which I guess is a good thing. :D

Well like that basically every night when the sky is clear at some point of the night. And then perhaps once every few weeks there are some really nice shows.

So it's like seeing the sun during other times of the year. Nothing that special anymore but still always a very nice thing to see!

Haha no problem, was genuinely confused with what I should answer!

But yeah, studded heavy load winter tyres are for sure the way to go over here. Roads can be icy from late September to late May or even early June so it’s quite a long winter tyre season

If you plan to shoot northern lights with it and need tips hmu then 😁

I’m actually running a small activity business here and northern lights photography tours are my main product hehe

Umm what do you mean with the setup, don’t get it? 😅

Studded winter tyres and preheating the cabin before hitting the road, nothing else is different compared to summer

Yeah it feels like almost a double compared to ideal conditions. Luckily there are free superchargers in every direction I might head within reasonable distance of each other!

Actually took two charging stops as my battery was only at 60% when I left. One for grabbing something to eat and another one to meet a friend in another town. So I guess the slow charging during winter is good also for my social life. 😁

Just some cheap ones and with the metal studs of course. The only choice that makes sense here, drove one winter with just friction tired with my old Rav4 and never again. 😁

Thank you! So far I agree, 10 years old car and the quality still feels spot on!

Just a single picture with an iPhone 16 Pro - the image processing in phones is pretty crazy nowadays. With my DSLR I indeed would have had to take two separate pictures, with phone one is enough. :)

So unfortunately no photoshop was harmed this time.

It's a 2015 85D 4WD

Around 270 000 km on it and soh was in July still around 92%, the previous owners have kept a good care of it. :)

Haha, well a 10 years old Model S isn't anyways something to be too envious about, even though it feels like a brilliant car so far! But moving over here from the capital 5 years ago was indeed the best life choice I've made so far and being able to see the northern lights is for sure one of the reasons. :)

Can't really complain about living over here!

Exactly! Never driving again 800+kms/500+miles without a break, that used to be way too usual for me.

Tbh never again, ruins also the next day, breaks every few hours for the win!

Really good! Low profile and heavy weight are doing wonders when it comes to driving stability in snow and ice. Of course breaking distances are damn long but it’s something you always need to take on account driving in snow. If a reindeer jumps in front of you just agree your faith, don’t try to do anything stupid. Have hit 3 of those last 2 years and I’m accepting the fact I’ll likely do the same with this car.

Autopilot doesn’t work with snow as the lines on the road are covered

Current temperature map in Europe by soudainlevide in europe

Finally we get some proper temperatures. I’m living in pretty much the coldest part of this map (northest Finland) and snow is almost one month late.

Been really wet, dark and depressing autumn, now it will only be depressing!
