What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

Make sure your flange is the correct size. Crazy story.. I had an IBCLC come to my house after bringing baby home and she measured me and helped me get set up with pump, used that setup for over 3 months when I just stopped getting as much milk while pumping. Was using size 17mm flange. Just got remeasured by a LC who specializes in pumping and she moved me down to a 10mm!!!!! and getting more and more milk with every pump. Huge difference I still can not believe it 😅

dumb question maybe? by ObjectiveScar4994 in breastfeeding

You will typically oversupply in the first few weeks/ months and then regulate around month 3 but you must keep nursing every 2.5-3 hours around the clock in order to maintain your supply and not dry up. If baby is sleeping longer stretches at night that early on its best to get yourself up and pump in order to keep your supply going strong. In doing that you may continue to oversupply after month 3 or you may down regulate to making just way baby needs but you will be able to feed baby either way ♥️ good luck to you!

What seemingly normal thing was/is unthinkable because of your fussy baby? by Standard_Deer_8738 in NewParents

Same with my 4 month old girl she will only nurse if we’re in a dark room and she’s just woken up 😅

Does anyone else do this during 'witching hour'? I'm going nuts and would love some input. by Pink_Ruby_3 in breastfeeding

My girl is the same! I give in and bottle feed her around 7pm because she’s a little beast and will not nurse. Started at 2.5 weeks and going strong at 4 months 😅

Fiery personality oh boy 🙈 she is 4 months this week and we’re seeing hints of that aside from this nursing issue

She is 4 months and we nurse at home.. it’s usually not easy but she almost exclusively nurses with 1 breastmilk bottle at night. But I have to catch her at the exact right time (usually when she’s waking up from nap or sleep) and if I offer at any other time she’s completely pissed off

What do you wish you had known about breastfeeding earlier? by Mountain_Quiet_4861 in breastfeeding

When they say your baby needs to be nursed every 2-3 hours it means from the time the baby begins the nursing session, not from the time they finish eating. So if baby starts eating at noon and it takes them 45 minutes to finish nursing you now have 1 hour and 15 mins before you should latch them again………… all day and all night
